Probate Court, St Clair Co., Alabama:

In the matter of the estate of Elijah Alverson, deceased, application to sell lands to pay debts.
And now on this day comes Barnett F. Alverson, administrator of the estate of Elijah Alverson, deceased, and presents to the court his petition, in writing and under oath, praying for an order to sell the lands hereinafter described, for the purpose of paying the debts of the said deceased ...viz;
The NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 and the
SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 and the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4, all in section 32, township 15, range 4E, in St Clair Co., Alabama.
And said petitioner further represents that the names, residences, ages and condition of heirs and distributees of said deceased are as follows, to wit: Charley, Chesley, and B. F. Alverson of full age and reside in St. Clair County this state. Archibald Alverson of full age and resides in Madison County in the state of Alabama, the heirs of James M. Alverson, dec'd, who was a son of decedent, viz: Clary Ann Alverson of full age and resides in Madison County this state, Mary F. Alverson of full age and resides in St Clair County this state, James C. and Emsior Alverson both of full age and reside in the state of Mississippi. The heirs of R. C. Alverson, dec'd, who was a son of said decedent, Two children whose names are unknown to petitioner but reside in the state of Mississippi and Frances Ann Jones, wife of Wesly Jones, dec'd, of full age and resides in St Clair County in the state of Alabama.
And it appearing that the said petitioner has heretofore regturned to this court the inventory and appraisement and the report of the personal property of said deceased the court having examined said petition, it is ordered that the same be filed, and that the 28th day of October 1872 be set as the day for hearing said petition, and that notice of this application and the day appointed for hearing be given by publication for three successive weeks by posting written notice at the court house door and then other public places in county of St Clair and that citations be issued and duly served at least ten days before the day above set for hearing on the said - -

Ordered that case be extended till 4th Nov 1871.
It seems that Reuben must not have written home too often because he had kids 10 years before Elijah's probate that they didn't seem to know about. One son, John C., died in 1871.
