[187] Samuel, another offspring of David was born in 1778, some records show1780, and made his living as a carpenter. In the 1850 Census he wasfound living in Clarendon NY with Susannah from NY state, presumablyin the town, and it was noted that Sam was from Ct.
Sam was Comforts brother and at one point Comfort did live with him inNY.

Also in our possession is a copy of the Last Will and Testament ofSamuel. Nothing unexpected his possessions were left to his childrenand grandchildren. Admitted for probate on May 6th 1859. SurrogateCt, Albion, Orleans Cty, NY

Samuel and Bethia were found buried at the Robinson Burying Ground onRte 237 and Glidden Road along with Almira. The grass was being mowedby a flock of the neighbors geese in 1982 when it was visited by PeggySprague...in Clarendon.

Actually Samuel became a resident of Clarendon, NY in about 1814. Hepurchased 100 acres of land about one mile South of the village rd andbuilt a house in 1825. The house at first was checked on the outsidewith mortar but it was taken off and the sides clapboarded. He clearedup his farm and remained a resident of the town until his death.

He was a farmer and a noted barn builder and built the old ones on theStephen Martin farm. Samuel set out his old orchard in 1817, gettingthe trees an seeds at Lima, NY. When the Erie Canal opened , therewas a celebration in Holley, where they had a band in which Samuel wasa fifer.

Samuel will entered for Probate on 8 Feb 1859, in Clarendon, ClarendonNY. Admitted for Probate 6 May 1854. It was a Certified Copy andestablishes him as Comfort Coy's brother. Will drawn on 23 Aug 1849and recorded on 1 July 1859.
