Subject: Elmira Prison

I don't have a link, but my grandfather Hugh Ellis Courtney was a POW at
Elmira Prison.  He was captured at the 2nd Battle of the Wilderness and was
there until the close of the war.  He was a member of the 5th Alabama Company
 C.  He was from Monroe County but was born in Mississippi February 13, 1843
and died at his daughter's home in Montgomery on February 22, 1939.  He is
buried in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile.
