Newton J. appears at the Natl. as Pvt., Eufaula Minute Men as we
know; he
was probably young or old; one N.J. Glover appears as Pvt. Co C, 4th Btn,
(Love's) Cav; the 4th Btn had three companies, two from Barbour and one was
Love's Pike co; was almost immediately sent to Va. where it was to be known as
Jeff Davis Legion Cav; it remained in Va. until late in the war and was sent to
NC with the Army of Tenn. where it surrendered in May '65; he was not among
those paroled, so chances are real good that he did not come out of Va.; I have
found it to be quite common for many of those who served first w/ Reserves in
Barbour to show-up later in Jeff Davis Cav.
Can't tell you anything about William H. Glover other he was not
with the
rgt. to be paroled at Appomattox in Apr 1865; one Pvt. Thomas A. Glover,
Co A of the 43d was paroled there; Genl. Lee had a very large number of
men captured at Sailor's Creek and Farmville prior to reaching Appomattox
so its possible William was among those and would probably have been paroled at
Lynchburg; I don't have that list; the T. M. Barbour you show was Major
Thomas M. Barbour, probably was Adjutant of the 43d who previously commanded Co
D as a Capt..
The following of the Glover line were enlisted at Lawrenceville, Henry County
by Capt Marion C. J. Searcy Mar 18, 1862 as privates, Co H, 37th Ala Inf Rgt:
James: KIA Lookout Mountain, Tenn.
Nov 24, 1863.
John R.: d. of typhoid fever Columbus,
Miss Aug 29, 1862.
William J.: d of pneumonia Lauderdale, Miss Oct 10, 1862.
Samuel D. P.: d. Columbus, Miss July

The "Eufaula Minute Men" enlisted at Eufaula Mar 30, 1863, Capt John
Hardy commanding; a muster roll dated Jun 30, 1863, Ft. Apalachicola
River shows a Pvt Newton J. Glover as present.
