The War Department, The Adjutant Generalís Office, Washington D.C. shows the records that Thomas Jefferson Harris, Company E, 1st Alabama Infantry, C.S.A., enlisted on February 14, 1862. Muster roll November 30 to Dec. 31, 1863, shows him present, as a Private. 

He was prisoner of War, records show that he was paroled at Greensboro, N.C., May 1, 1865, in accordance with the terms of a Military Convention held on April 26, 1865, between General Joseph E. Johnston, C.S.A., and Major General W.T. Sherman, U.S.A. a Private, Co. A, 1st. Ala. Inf., C.S.A. . 

Thomas J. Harris married Elizabeth Frances Danford, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Danford and Virginia Louisa Sloan on March 31, 1867 in Barbour County. 

Thomas J. Harris is the son of William Tims Harris and Sarah Margarette
Richbourg of Pike County.
