If you have any information on burials in Barbour County please submit to ALBARBOU-L@rootsweb.com

Location: From Eufaula, go to Baker Hill, take a right on 79 and its about 2 miles on the right behind a gate , approx. 200 yards  in the woods. This cemetery has two stones, I can see no evidence of any other that may have existed here, and it is very well kept.

Sacred to the memory of
John Johnston
Who departed this life in peace
Sept. 23, 1853
Aged 68 yrs.,7 mts.,9days

Mary Ann Hodges Johnston
b: Horry Co., S.C.
d:1879 in Barbour Co. ,Al.
Wife of John Johnston
Mother of 19 children

I visited the grave of my gggg grandfather John Johnston this morning.
The marker for his wife has been place there within the last year.  I wished I could find out who placed it there because her name is inscribed as Mary Ann Hodges and the information passed down in the family documented her as Mary Molcie or Molsy Hodges.  They both may be correct.  Also her grave indicates that she was the mother of nineteen children and I can only account for thirteen, with names for only eleven.  She must have had several children die young.
There are seven other unmarked interments within the fenced area and at least one outside the fence.  I would love to learn the name of these unmarked if anyone has any idea.  These graves are located a couple hundred
yards down a woods road on Co. Rd 79.  It is exactly 3.1 miles south of SR 131, (Clayton Hwy) on the left hand side of the road.  You will see two gated woods roads. Take the one on the right.  If coming from Baker Hill, it is 1.8
miles north of Rocky Mt. Methodist Church, on CR 79, on the right hand side of the road.
