Death of a Eufaula Citizen
Eufalua, Ala. September 15 - Mr. Jacob Ranser, one of Eufaula's oldest and most
honored citizens, died at his residence on Barbour street at 1:30 o'clock
yesterday of typhoid fever. Mr. Ranser was in his eightieth year and has been
engaged in the furniture and undertaker's business in this city for several
years. He was considered on of the wealthiest citizens of Eufaula and leaves a
wife, two sons and six daughters, the latter all married. He will be buried this
afternoon at 3 o'clock with Masonic honors.

Sept., in her 47th year.

RHODES, Chauncey
Atlanta Constitution, The, 25 September 1895
Eufaula, Ala. September 24 (Special).
Mr. Chauncey Rhodes, and old and highly respected citizen of this city, died
at his home here last night at 1 o'clock. He was born in New Haven, Conn.
and moved here when a young man. He has been residing here continuously for
fifty years. He was about seventy-three years old and was for many years one of
the most prominent citizens of this city. His wife, several sons and daughters
and some grandchildren survive him. He will buried by the Independent Order of
Odd Fellows here tomorrow.
Barbour obit - ROBERTS, G. A. Captain
Atlanta Constitution, 5 July 1898
Eufaula, Ala, July 4 (Special) Captain G. A. Roberts died at his home here last
night. The deceased was a widely know and much beloved citizen. For a number of
years he was mayor of the city and held other positions of trust with honor and
dignity. He was seventy-two years old and has been residing here for almost half
a century.
