Barbour County records are now microfilmed and copies are in the Alabama State Archives and the local library in Eufaula. If you cannot visit either of these locations the Archives does loan to other libraries for a fee. http://statearchives.us/alabama.htm
Wallace State College Family and Regional History Program in Hanceville, Alabama has extensive resources for genealogists and family historians, including a large collection of Alabama census records, African American records, birth records, Confederate veterans records, Indian records, Civil war records, and much more. Check out the Macon County, Ga. and the Georgia News, newspapers there's are a lot of Alabama info there. These papers are added to weekly and many times daily. Goes way beyond death and birth notices.
