Alexander Jefferson Miller
Alexander Jefferson Miller was b. 1841 in Stewart Co, GA and then lived in
Dale Co, AL and Stewart Co, AL. He served as a Confederate captain from
Barbour Co, AL. He m. Mary Ann Whitehurst in 1864 in Barbour Co, AL.
His dad was Thomas Jefferson Miller, b. about 1808 in GA who m. Patience
Smith in 1840 in Washington Co, GA. The parents of T.J. Miller were born
in NC. Perhaps your John Miller was TJM's dad?
Thomas J. Miller and wife Patience named one of their sons "John Miles Miller."
After the Civil War, the families of Thomas Jefferson Miller (1808-1889)
and Alexander Jefferson Miller (1841-1897) moved to Panola Co, TX and are
buried on land that TJM gave to the Antioch Baptist Church near Carthage, TX.
The similar locations of Stewart Co, GA and Barbara Co, AL may be significant.
In earlier research, I have found several "John Miller" men who were in TX
prior to 1850.
I know another lady who is researching "Charity Smith Spence." I will send
