Notes for ANDREW J. GLOVER:

Andrew was born in Crawford County, Georgia June of 1830 according to his Civil War Records and the 1900 census reports. He moved to Barbour Co., Al along with his father and other family members about 1840. He remained in Barbour County, Al. until 1910 when he was placed in a hospital in Tuscaloosa, Al.

Andrew was a land owner and farmer in Barbour County was well respected by all that knew him. He lived in prct. 6 Williamson, which is about 10 miles from Clayton, Al.

When The War of Northern Aggression erupted Andrew joined Kolb's Battery Light Artillery on April 30, 1862 he was 31 years old at the time. He was the Company Teamster. Andrew was kicked by a horse while serving in Tennessee causing nerve damage to his arm, in spite of this he served through the entire war and surrendered along with all the other troops in Macon, Ga. April 20,21 1865. The war was now over. Andrew returned home to Barbour County. He as others returning to the ravaged south endured many hardships caused by the carpetbaggers, scalawags and thieves looking to take the land and property of Sothrons. He married Mrs. S. E. Mooneyham (formerly Miller) February 13, 1868. Together they raised 6 sons of theirs and a daughter of hers by a first marriage to S. E. Mooneyham. They remained married until her death in 1910 and he died within a year in 1911. They died within 8 months of each other. Andrew was sent to Tuscaloosa because he was up in age and had become senile. The court records show that D. R. Glover went to the court to sell the lands he owned to send him to Tuscaloosa to the hospital for medical care and 24 hour supervision to prevent him from wandering off and being injured. Andrew was a kind, honorable person and liked by all according to his great-nephew Eli C. Glover, Eli was the grandson of Andrew's sister Susan K. Glover.

In the will of  John P. Glover Andrew was residing in Barbour County Alabama as of Sept. 12, 1862.
