In the name of God Amen, I, Samuel Benton of State and County
being weak in
body but of sound and perfect mind and memory and considering the
uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound and perfect mind and
memory blessed by Almightily God for the same, do make and publish this
as my
last Will and Testament in a manner and form following (that is to say )
First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah the sum of
one bed,
bedstead and furniture
I do also give and bequeath unto my eldest daughter Rebecca
one smoothing iron and a pair of geese.
I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth one pare
of geese
I do also give and bequeath unto my son Bethel one pair of
geese.
I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary one bed
and furniture four head of
cattle.
I do also give and bequeath unto my son Wright one sorrel
horse
& one rifle gun & three head of cattle.
I do also give and bequeath unto my son Isaac one Bay Horse
one lot of black smiths tools, two head of cattle & twelve head of
hogs.
I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Parasada one
loom, one bed and furniture, one spinning wheel, one large pot, one tub,
one pail, and one piggie--and two head of
cattle--
I do also give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah one bed and
furniture, one spinning wheel, one chest, one oven, and two head of
cattle.
I do also give and bequeath unto my son Samuel A. one waggon and
one ox and
an heifer, one pair steel gards and five head of hogs--
I do also give and bequeath unto my son Jesse one gray mare
one trunk, one shot gun, one lot of
coopers ware, six head of geese and all the rest of my cattle.
Which said several legacies or leaves of property I will and order
shall be paid to the said respective legatees within six months after my
decease and lastly as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my
personal estate goods and chattels of what kind and nature soever.
I give and bequeath the same to my beloved wife Sarah Benton
whom I hereby
appoint sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and hereby
revoking all former wills made by me.
In witness whereof I herein to set my hand and seal this 11th day of
March A.D.1834
Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Samuel Benton
to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have
hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the
testator.

Barbour County Regular Orphans Court November 3rd 1834
Personally came Samuel Grice in open court one o f the
subscribing
witnesses to the within will and after being duly sworn that he signed
the within will as a witness and saw Samuel Benton the deceased assign
the other witnesses the same sworn to and subscribed this 3rd in open
court this 3rd November 1834.
