p 139 - " The father of George W. Goldsby , Thornton Boykin Goldsby was born in Georgia on September 14, 1796, and settled on a planation, which he named Meed Hall, located two and one-half miles from Marion, where he engaged in planting and raised fine horses.

"He was also the owner of business property in Selma, and responsible for grading half of the railroad between Selma and Uniontown. He later moved to Summerfield, Dallas County, where he died on September 4, 1858."
