Admitted to the Union December 14, 1819

these counties were formed and later became extinct:
 

BENTON County 1832 (see present day CALHOUN County)



BAINE County 1866-1867(see present day ETOWAH County)


BAKER County 1868(see present day CHILTON County)


CAHAWBA 1818(see present day BIBB County)


COTACO County 1818(see present day MORGAN County)


DECATUR County was formed  December 7, 1821; 
abolished  in 1824; 
territory was given to Jackson, Madison and Marshall counties


HANCOCK County 1850 (See present day WINSTON County)


JONES County -
this named was only used from August 5, 1868 to October 10, 1868
(see present day COVINGTON County)
