His parents family had lived in the Fishing Creek area of Chester County, SC.
Sargent William Murphy and wife Mary Ann Polly Miller were his grandparents along with the Thomas family through his mother Sarah Jane Thomas.

Eldridge George Murphy was buried in Lorena, Texas after 1880 His wife was Polly Wood.
Mary Ann Polly Murphy born 1823 GA married a Stokes.
Hugh Thomas Murphy born 1825 Henry County, AL
