MAHONE, Thomas F. (Private, Company L 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment) Dr. Thomas Flournoy Mahone was born July 28, 1834 in Talbotton, Harris County Georgia; died August 25, 1895 in Loachapoka, Lee County Alabama; buried in Loachapoka Cemetery, Loachapoka, Lee County Alabama.  Thomas was the son of Eliza Yarbrough and Marion David Mahone. Thomas married June 8, 1865 in Lee County Alabama to Sarah Catherine Peddy born  September 23, 1839 in Harris County Georgia; died July 7, 1900 at 60 in Loachapoka, Lee County Alabama; buried Loachapoka Cemetery, Lee County Alabama. Sarah was the daughter of Sarah Ann Holley (1816-1864) & Thomas Beverly Peddy (1815-1888) and both her parents are buried in the Loachapoka Cemetery. Thomas and Sarah had the following children: 1st) Charles Marion Mahone (1866-1913) 2nd) Annie Elizabeth Mahone (1868-1932) 3rd) Gussie Iola Mahone (1870-1925) 4th) John Thomas Mahone (1873-1937) 5th) Minnie Buford Mahone (1874-1961) 6th) Eloise Mahone (1877-1895) 7th) James Fletcher Mahone (1879-1932) 8th) Infant Mahone (1884-1884). Thomas enlisted May 7, 1861 in Montgomery Alabama. Detailed to stay with wounded July 3, 1863. Pay Roll Camp Rodes, Virginia on February 1, 1865. Thomas served as a nurse and was a practicing physician in Loachapoka, Lee County  Alabama when he returned home. Dr. Mahone's home still stands in a pecan grove near the Wooten home in Loachapoka.
