I do not live in Bullock County but have visited and researched the county for a great number of years.

Bullock County was created on Dec. 5, 1866 from Montgomery,  Pike, Barbour, and Macon Counties., its boundaries were changed in Feb. 1867. It was named to honor Confederate Col. Edward C. Bullock of Barbour County. The county is in the southeastern section of the state, in the prairie region. Bullock County encompasses 625 square miles.  Union Springs was chosen as the county seat in 1867. Other communities include Midway, Smut Eye, Perote, Thompson and Fitzpatrick
