Elizabeth Horn Kelley
"Elizabeth Horn Kelley was the daughter of Robert Coleman Horn and Sallie A.E. Chadwick. She was born on 11/18/1874 and went by the name Lizzie. She married William Henry Kelley in 1890 and they had eleven children. Lizzie died on 9/13/1865 and left 220 direct descendants. She is buried at Bellwood Cemetery." ..... Carla Miles
Mrs. Kelley Dies in Alabama; Daughter Here Coffee Springs, Ala. - Mrs. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Kelley, 93, a native of Geneva County, died here Monday leaving 220 direct descendants, of which 10 were from the Valley area. Survivors in the area include a daughter, Mrs. Shelley Greene, Columbus; two grandchildren, Mrs. R.F. Layfield and W.F. Greene, both of Columbus; five great-grandchildren, Mrs. R. Carlton Adams, Americus, and Mrs. W. Dale Burson, Sr., Bob Layfield, Bill Layfield and Mary Layfield, all of Columbus, and two great-grandchildren, Carla Adams, Americus and Walter D. Burson, Jr., Columbus. Other survivors include four sons, Bill and Henry Kelley, both of Coffee Springs, Wilmer Kelley, Chipley, and Jesse Kelley, Ocee, Fla.; two other daughters, Mrs. Dollie Smith and Mrs. Jim Palmer, both of Geneva; a brother, Shep Horne, Opp, Ala.; 53 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren. September 13, 1965 Woman Leaves 220 Descendants Coffee Springs - Mrs. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Kelley, 93, a Geneva County native, died here last night leaving 220 direct descendants. Her survivors include four sons, three daughters, 55 grandchildren, 135 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Kelley, who had 11 children, had been living with a son, Henry Kelley, Coffee Springs. Active until the last she spent a normal day yesterday and shortly after retiring suffered an apparent heart attack. Funeral Wednesday Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Bellwood Baptist Church with the Rev. C.O. York officiating. Burial will be in the Bellwood Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home directing. Her surviving children include her sons, Bill and Henry Kelley, Coffee Springs, Wilmer Kelley, Chipley, Jesse Kelley, Ocee, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Dollie Smith and Mrs. Jim Palmer, Geneva, Mrs. Shelley Greene, Columbus. Also surviving is a brother, Shep Horne of Opp.
