Rachel Barner
(December 17, 1935 - December 23, 2005)

Rachel Barner, 70, of Lafe, passed away December 23 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center of Jonesboro. She was born December 17, 1935 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She had formerly worked in the Wal-Mart shoe department, and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lafe, and a member of the Lafe Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin L. Barner, Jr.; her parents, Montie and Bessie Rogers; three brothers, Wesley Rogers, K. W. Rogers, and William Earl Rogers; three sisters, Earline Spence, Arline Parks, and Frances Green.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Dennis Knuckles of Lafe, and Lisa and Robert Swink of Lafe; four granddaughters, and families, Shellie and Rich Gregg of Newark, Arkansas, Clarie and Riley, Stacey and Chris Dickinson of Paragould, Brittany Reese of Lafe and Katelin, Brooke Nolan of Lafe and Elizabeth and Grant. One grandson and family, Heath Farmer and Peyton, Sable, and Kennedy, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Preston and Joann Rogers of Caruthersville, Missouri, and one sister, Emma Newton of Caruthersville, Missouri. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be Monday, 11:00 A. M. at St. John’s Cemetery in Lafe with Pastor Curt Dwyer officiating. A fellowship with the family will follow at the church. No visitation is scheduled. Arrangements are by Mitchell Funeral Home.
