THANK YOU !

WHAT A GREAT PEICE OF HISTORY !

THE 77TH , ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF ODD FELLOWSHIP , OBSERVED BY THE NORTHEAST ARKANSAS ASSOCIATION IN THIS CITY SATURDAY WAS A GRAND AND GIGANTIC AFFAIR.

MANY OLD CITIZENS SAY IT WAS THE LARGEST GATHERING EVER SEEN IN PARAGOULD AND EVERYBODY SAYS A NICER AND MORE ORDERLY CROWD WAS NEVER ASSEMBLED IN THE STATE. VISITORS BEGAN ARRIVING ON THE LATE TRAINS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND AT NIGHT , SATURDAY MORNING SPECIAL TRAINS , LOADED WITH HUMAN FREIGHT , ARRIVED FROM JONESBORO , CORNING , MALDEN ,MO. CARDWELL , MO. AND INTERMEDIATE POINTS AND HUNDREDS CAME FROM OTHER COUNTIES , REPRESENTING JACKSON , POINSETT , INDEPENDENCE , LAWRENCE , RANDOLPH AND CROSS , BUT THE BULK OF THE VISITORS WERE FROM CLAY AND CRAIGHEAD .

THE FARMERS OF GREENE COUNTY CAME IN LARGE NUMBERS AND MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND VISTORS THROUGED THE STREETS ALL DAY SATURDAY, WHICH WITH THE LOCAL POPULATION WHO TURNED OUT EN-MASSE GAVE OUR THRIVING LITTLE CITY A METROPOLITAN APPEARANCE.

THE TOWN WAS DECORATED WITH FLAGS AND HUNTING AND APPROPRIATE MOTTOS OF THE I.O.O.F. ADORNED THE FRONT OF NEARLY EVERY BUSINESS HOUSE ON PRUET STREET.

PARAGOULD HAD ON HER SUNDAY CLOTHES AND VISTORS WERE IMPRESSED WITH THE IDEA THAT THEY WERE IN THE MIDST OF A BUSTLING , THRIVING CITY.

WE ENDORSE THE LANGUAGE OF COL. POLLARD , OF MISSOURI , WHO SAID THAT THE VISTORS WERE PROUD OF PARAGOULD AND PARAGOULD OUGHT TO BE PROUD OF THE VISTORS. WE CAN ASSURE COL. POLLARD AND EVERY OTHER VISTOR THAT PARAGOULD FELT PROUD OF HER GUESTS AND DID ALL SHE COULD TO MAKE IT A DAY OF PLEASURE FOR THEM AND WE BELEAVE SHE SUCEEDED.

IT WAS A DAY THAT WILL BECOME MEMORABLE , NOT ONLY IN THE HISTORY OF PARAGOULD , BUT IN THE HISTORY OF ODD FELLOWSHIP IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS AS WELL.

THE TRIPPLE LINK , REPRESENTING FAITH, HOPE AND CHARITY ARE EMBLAMATIC OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THIS GREAT AND POPULAR ORDER. THE GOOD FEELING WHICH PREVAILED SATURDAY , THE CORDIAL HANDSHAKE OF BROTHER WITH BROTHER , OF FRIEND WITH FRIEND , THE DEMONSTRATION ; OF BENEVOLENCE AND GOOD WILL THAT CHARACTERIZED THE MULTITUDE WHO ASSEMBLED HAS WRITTEN UPON THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE IN LETTERS OF GOLD THAT ODD FELLOWSHIP IS IN ITSELF A RELIGION , WHICH IF PRACTICED WITH BECOMING FIDELITY WILL MAKE EVERY MAN A GOOD CITIZEN , RESTORE TO EVERY WIDOW A HUSBAND AND TO EVERY ORPHAN A FATHER . "PEACE ON EARTH AND GOOD WILL TO MEN " WAS BEAMING FROM EVERY LIP.

BANDS OF MUSIC , BEAUTIFUL REGAILIA , CHARMING WOMEN , MANLY MEN , FLOWERS AND ORATORY AND LOVELY WEATHER ALL BLENDED TO MAKE IT AN OCCASION OF EXQUISITE LOVELINESS , SUCH AS IS RARELY ENJOYED BY THIS OR ANY OTHER CITY .

THE LINE OF MARCH WITH BANNERS FLYING , BANDS PLAYING , AND THE BEAUTIFUL FLOATS ARRANGED BY THE DEFT HANDS OF THE FAIR LADIES WHO SO UNFALTERINGLY GAVE THEIR TIME AND LABOR TO THE SUCESS OF THE OCCASION PRESENTED A SCENE THAT WILL LIVE GREEN IN THE MEMORY OF ALL WHO WITNESSED THE GREAT CARNIVAL OF GLORY TO ODD FELLOWHIP.

LONG LIVE ODD FELLOWSHIP SAY WE FOR PARAGOULD , FOR WE SHALL HARDLY LOOK UPON THE LIKE AGAIN .

LONG LIVE PARAGOULD SAY THE VISTORS FOR NO TOWN EVER DISPENSED A MORE GENUINE AND UNSTINTED HOSPITALITY.
