J.R. CASE MANUFACTURING CO. ASSET TO JONESBORO

AND CASITE IS GIVING JONESBORO WONDERFUL ADVERTISING AS WELL AS PLACING CITY ON INDUSTRIAL MAP

MUCH OF THE CREDIT FOR THIS SUCESS MUST BE GIVEN TO J.R. CASE AND FRANK HOUSMAN WHO NURSED THE BUSINESS THROUGH MANY LEAN YEARS.

IN 1922 , J.R. CASE , A NATIVE OF MOUNTAIN VIEW , ARK. WAS ENGAGED IN MINING NEAR JOPLIN , MO. HE DECIDED TO GET INTO SOMETHING ELSE . LEAVING JOPLIN IN A MODEL - T FORD , HE STARTED FOR MEMPHIS . HE BROKE A SPRING AT THAYER , MO. AND PULLED INTO A WAYSIDE GARAGE FOR REPAIRS.

THE MECHANIC HAD GREAT DIFFICULTY IN REMOVING THE RUSTY NUTS ON THE OLD SPRING . IN FACT , HE WAS JUST READY TO CUT THEM OFF WHEN HE REMBERED ABOUT HAVING A CAN OF OIL THAT WAS SOLD TO HIM AS A PENETRATING OIL THAT WOULD LOOSEN ANY RUSTY NUT . HE POURED SOME OF THE OIL ON THE NUTS AND PRESTO THEY COULD BE SCREWED OFF ALMOST WITHOUT A WRENCH.

CASE WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THIS MAGIC OIL MANUFACTURED BY RET-AW-ON MANUFACTURING CO. OF JONESBORO , ARK. HE WAS DETERMINED THEN TO CONTACT THE COMPANY AS SOON AS HE REACHED JONESBORO. THIS HE DID AND SOON PERSUADED THE OFFICIALS OF THE LITTLE FIRM TO LET HIM GO ON THE ROAD AND SELL THIS NEVER - FAIL , PENETRATING OIL AND A NO-WATER SOAP THEY WERE ALSO MANUFACTURING .

THE UNUSUAL NAME OF RET- AW-ON HAD BEEN COINED BY SPELLING NO- WATER BACKWARDS. CASE COVERED ARKANSAS AND SENT IN NUMEROUS ORDERS . AT THE END OF HIS ROUNDS HE RETURNED , ONLY TO LEARN THAT MOST OF HIS ORDERS WERE UNFILLED BECAUSE OF THE COMPANY DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT MATERIAL WITH WHICH TO MANUFACTURE ENOUGH OF THE PRODUCT TO FILL THE ORDERS AND SCARCELY ANY MONEY WITH WHICH TO BUY MORE.

THE FIRM WAS THEN REORGANIZED WITH CASE AS PRESIDENT AND THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO THE J.R. CASE MANUFACTURING COMPANY . THE NAME OF PEETRATING OIL WAS CHANGED TO CASITE. THAT WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 1922.

ABOUT 1929 OR 1930 IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PENETRATING OIL AND SOLVENT QUALITIES OF CASITE MADE IT OF THE UTMOST VALUE WHEN USED IN AUTOMOBILE OR OTHER INTERNAL COMBUSTION MOTORS. IT WAS FOUND THAT WHEN CASITE WAS ADDED TO THE MOTOR OIL IN A BRAND NEW CAR ITS PENETRATING QUALITIES ENABLED IT TO CARRY THE REGULAR OIL TO ALL WORKING PARTS OF THE ENGINE . WAS ALSO FOUND THAT IT WORKED WELL IN OLDER AUTOMOBILES .

SHORTLY AFTER THE DISCOVERY OF THE NEW USES OF THE OIL . NEW MERCHANDISING WAS CHANGED FROM DIRECT SALES TO RETAILERS AND CONSUMERS OPENING UP A WHOLE NEW MARKET FOR THE AMAZING OIL . SALES INCREASED FROM $6,420 IN 1932 TO $ 224,225 IN 1936 .

AT THE PRESENT TIME CASTIE IS BEING SOLD IN EVERY STATE IN THE UNION WITH IMPORTANT JOBBING CONNECTIONS IN ALMOST EVERY STATE. IT IS ALSO BEING MANUFACTURED IN DOMINION OF CANADA BY AN AFFILIATE , THE CASITE PRODUCTS CO. , COLEBROOK , ONTARIO.

HAVING BECOME FIRMLY ESTABLISHED IN THE AUTOMOTIVE TRADE , CASITE HAS RECENTLY INVADED THE MARINE AND INDUSTRIAL DIESEL ENGINE FIELD.

THE COMPANY HAS ITS OWN PRINTING PLANT WHICH TURNS OUT ALL ADVERTISING MATERIAL AND LITERATURE. THE COMPANY NOW EMPLOYS 35 SALESMAN ON THE ROAD. THERE ARE 15 EMPLOYEES IN THE JONESBORO OFFICE AND PLANT , MAKING A TOTAL OF 50 EMPLOYEES .
