GUN AND ROD CLUB
RECORD WRITTEN BY : TINA EASLEY
I hope to create a record of members of the Gun and Rod Club , from the old newspapers one of just the many different Sportsmen Clubs and Clubhouses that were in the county and surrounding counties in Arkansas during early 1900's. The Gun and Rod Club was made up of Sportsmen that helped to create the rules and regulations for our Game and Wildlife that we still enjoy today. At one time Arkansas had very few wildlife living in our state , such as deer , bear , quail , wildcats and pheasant . Due to the high demands of wild game and the slaughter of wildlife for the purpose of pleasure and markets up north in demand .The logging camps , sawmills and clearing for farmland , other industries that destroyed the trees and leaving the state , bare of woods, swamps and vegetation that provided the food and coverage for the wildlife . The changes of time and way of life , brought on a need for laws for our wildlife to survive , These men looked ahead to our future and took control with rules and regulations for the next generations to come .
