IDEAL WEATHER CHARACTERIZED MONDAY'S EVENT

LABOR DAY PROGRAMME BROUGHT OVER THREE THOUSAND TO PICNIC GROUNDS

PRIZES FOR EVENTS AWARDED

YESTERDAY WAS A IDEAL DAY FOR OUR LABOR DAY EXERCISES AND PROGRAMS. THE PARADE FORMED AT THE CORNER OF THIRD AND HIGHLAND LED BY BILLIE MIDDLETON AS MARSHAL , FOLLOWED BY THE PARAGOULD BAND , AND THE VARIOUS FLOATS . SEVERAL OF THE SCHOOLS WERE REPRESENTED ; MORNING STAR , BARD , CENTER HILL , DISTRICT 58 , NORTH END , PALESTINE , OAK GROVE AND MILLER SCHOOLS HAD VERY ATTRACTIVE FLOATS.

THE FOLLOWING PRIZES WERE AWARED

RAILROAD MAINTENANCE OF WAY - FIRST PRIZE FOR BEST FLOAT

CARPENTERS - SECOND PRIZE - $15.00

PAINTERS - THIRD PRIZE - $10.00

TWO OF THE SCHOOL FLOATS DREW A PRIZE OF $15.00 EACH

ALBERT CREWS RECEIVED A PRIZE OF A $30.00 WRIST WATCH FOR SELLING THE GREATEST NUMBER OF LABOR DAY BUTTONS 665 TOTAL .

LEONA BOONE WAS AWARDED SECOND A $18 PARASOL PRIZE FOR SELLING 600 BUTTONS

THELMA HOLMES THIRD PRIZE A LAVALIERE FOR SELLING 589 BUTTONS

THE AIRPLANE AFTER MAKING A FEW FLIGHTS IN THE MORNING , GOT DISABLED AND WAS OUT OF COMMISSION FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.
