A. FAHR IS MISSING

MR. AND MRS. JOHN A. FAHR RECEIVE MESSAGE FROM WAR DEPARTMENT ABOUT THEIR SON

FORMER TEACHER IN THE MARMADUKE SCHOOLS

RADIO OPERATOR MECHANIC IN THE AIR TRANSPORT COMMAND ENTERED IN 1942 .

MR. AND MRS. JOHN A. FAHR OF MARMADUKE , ROUTE THREE, RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM THE WAR DEPARTMENT TODAY THAT THEIR SON T-SGT. HERSCHEL S. FAHR , 29, RADIO OPERATOR - MECHANIC IN THE AIR TRANSPORT COMMAND , HAS BEEN MISSING IN FLIGHT SINCE JUNE 26, 1945 . HE WAS SERVING IN THE CHINA-BURMA-INDIA THEATER OF OPERATIONS. THE TELEGRAM STATED THAT A CONFIRMING LETTER WOULD FOLLOW.

SERGEANT FAHR ENTERED THE THE SERVCE OCTOBER 19, 1942 HAD BEEN OVERSEAS SINCE AUGUST 3, 1943 AND WAS STATIONED IN INDIA. BEFORE VOLUNTEERING FOR SERVICE HE TAUGHT SCHOOL AT THE MARMADUKE HIGH SCHOOL. HE RECEIVED HIS BASIC TRAINING AT KEESLER FIELD , MISS. AND ATTENDED RADIO SCHOOL AT SIOUX FALLS , S.D.
