THE CANDIDATES

MEET AT GAINESVILLE YESTERDAY AND HAVE A WARM TIME

THE CANDIDATES WERE AT GAINESVILLE YESTERDAY . THEY BEGAN SPEAKING AT 10 O'CLOCK IN THE FORENOON AND WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A SHORT INTERMISSION AT NOON , KEPT UP A CONSTANT LIRE ALL DAY. THE CANDIDATES FOR JUDGE , ESPECIALLY HAYS AND JONES , CONSUMED CONSIDERABLE TIME AND HAD A LIVELY SET TO ESQ. HAYS CHARGED THE JUDGE WITH HAVING FAILED TO LET THE CONTRACTS FOR THE BUILDING OF BRIDGES ACCORDING TO LAW , AND READ SECTIONS OF THE DIGEST IN SUPPORT OF HIS ARGUMENT. JUDGE JONES DEFENDED HIS RECORD AND SAID THAT ESQ. HAYS WAS THE FOREMAN OF THE GRAND JURY THAT INDICTED HIM THAT THE ESQ. HAD PURS... LIKE A SLEUTH-HOUND.
