OBIT DONATED BY : DENNIS DOVER
In Memoriam
Caroline M. Phillips, nee Dover, was born in AL, June 25th, 1842.
Came to Poinsett Co., Ark., in 1868; was married to J. P.
Phillips October
4, 1866, and died in Greene Co., Ark., February 15th, 1907. She
joined the
Methodist church in her girlhood and lived a consistent Christian
until the
day of her death. She was the mother of seven children, all still
living,
and all with her when she passed away.
Truly a good woman has gone from us. She was an earnest and
consecrated Christian, an affectionate mother, a true friend, a
good
neighbor; we shall all miss her. What a great blessing it is to
have a good
mother. Ah, the word mother means so much, more than tongue or
pen can tell.
"Mother,' there is music in the very word; it means love,
long suffering,
patience, sacrifice, gentleness, kindness. It means everything
that is good
and pure; she is the light of the home, yea, a Christian mother
is all in
all to a home. She is gentle, she is kind, she bears with
wonderful patience
all our childish fretting and waywardness. She comforts us in all
our
sorrows. Oh, mother, mother home is so lonely without you! But
she is gone.
She rests now, but in the great Easter morning there will be a
glad meeting
just over yonder. Sister Phillips knew she was dying and even in
her
delirium spoke of the better land where we shall meet to part no
more. Her
husband who died long years ago, was a Christian, and now father
and mother,
reunited, stand with beckoning hands, calling for their children
to come on
to the great reunion on the other shore.
May the blessing of Almighty God abide with the children and may
all
so live as to make an unbroken family in heaven. Amen.
