
On March 3, 1883 , Paragould was incorporated . The first Monday in September , 1884 the citizens of Greene County voted 942 to 737 to move the county seat from Gainesville to Paragould . October 30 , 1884 , Charles D. Pruett , W.H. Jones , and E.S. Bray were appointed as a building commitee for the erection of a temporary court house. This building was built by J.H. Bryant for $ 1,194.00 east of the present building .
Plans for the present building were drawn up by a commitee composed of Eli Bray , A.P. Mack , and W.H. Jones , W.F. Boon and S.R. McGinnis secured the building contract for $1700.00 on October 5, 1887 .
Citizens of Greene County raised $700.00 for the purchase of a clock . The County paid an additional $300.00 for changing the plans for the dome and installing the clock . On April 3, 1888 , the Greene County Courthouse was completed .
