            Strawberry Point – Funeral service are pending for Jerry Luther Kirby, 27, who drowned while fishing at Quaker mill dam near Manchester late Sunday afternoon; born May 6, 1921, at Tyronza, Ark., the son of Luther and Ollie (Postan) Kirby; lived the greater part of his life at Paragould, Ark., where he graduated from high school: married Shirley Lang, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Lang, of Strawberry Point, in March 1940 at West Union; came to Strawberry Point to make his home after his discharge from the Navy about four years ago; attained the rank of coxswain during his navy service in World War II, and had been employed by the town of Strawberry Point; leaves wife, three children, Konnie, Kenneth and Kathie, all of Strawberry Point; his parents of Paragould, Ark., three brothers, Joe, Peoria, Ill., Ray, Paragould, and Floyd, sergeant with the army in Germany; two sisters, Mrs. Don Weller, Paragould and Mrs. Pearl MacSpadden, North Platte, Neb., member of the Catholic church and the American Legion.
