LOOKING AFTER SMALLPOX

DR. J.H. BEALL, THE MALDEN , MO .,SMALLPOX EXPERT WHO WAS APPOINTED BY THE DUNKLIN COUNTY COURT TO LOOK AFTER THE SMALLPOX SITUATION IN THE SOUTH EAST MISSOURI , CAME OVER ON THE P.S.E. YESTERDAY AND RETURNED TO MALDEN LAST NIGHT. THE DOCTOR INFORMED A SOLIPHONE REPORTER THAT THE PLAGUE HAD BEEN OF A VERY VIRULENT CHARACTER AT HORNERSVILLE , MANILLA AND OTHER NEARBY POINTS , THE PROPORTION OF DEATHS TO THE NUMBER OF CASES BEING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. HE STATED, HOWEVER , THAT THE EPIDEMIC HAD , IN A LARGE MEASURE , ABATED AND WAS WELL UNDER CONTROL .

AS AN EVIDENCE OF THE DOCTOR'S WISDOM AND FORESIGHT , HE WILL HEREAFTER KEEP POSTED ON THE CURRENT EVENTS OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND NORTHEAST ARKANSAS THROUGH THE COLUMNS OF THE DAILY SOLIPHONE .
