DELAPLAINE EVENTS

 

THE FARMERS ARE VERY BUSY PLANTING THEIR CROPS , BUT A RAIN IS NEEDED NOW , AS THE GROUND IS GETTING VERY DRY .

ONE DAY LAST WEEK , SAM BRACKEN , LIVING WEST OF TOWN , BUILT A FIRE IN AN OLD LOG HEAP TO SMOKE GNATS AND MOSQUITOES , AND THE WIND BEING SO STRONG , THE SPARKS WERE BLOWN TO HIS HOUSE , AND IT WAS BURNED TO THE GROUND WITH ALL OF ITS CONTENTS . MR. REED'S BARN CAUGHT FIRE LAST WEEK , AND IT TOO WAS BURNED DOWN.

MR. CHANEY HAS BEEN ON THE SICK LIST THIS WEEK.

RICHARD GREEN , OF JONESBORO , IS THE GUEST OF HIS BROTHER , THOMAS , HERE THIS WEEK.

WILL COOPER AND FAMILY RETURNED HOME FROM BEECH GROVE SATURDAY , AFTER SPENDING SOME TIME THERE WITH RELATIVES.

REV. LUCIAN CROWLEY WILL PREACH AT THE JONES RIDGE SCHOOL HOUSE ON THE FIRST SUNDAY IN MAY. ALL ARE INVITED.

LAST WEEK OUR PEOPLE HERE TOOK UP A SUBSCRIPTION FOR PAT MARTIN AND FAMILY , WHO ARE ALL SICK.

WE ARE GLAD TO SAY THAT ALMOST EVERBODY DONATED SOMETHING.

WILL BONNER HAS MOVED HIS MILL TO O'KEAN , WHERE HE WILL RUN IT AND ALSO A STORE

EUGENE WATSON AND ELLSWORTH BURKHOLDER WILL LEAVE NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT FOR ST. LOUIS , WHERE THEY WILL WORK ON THE WORLD'S FAIR BUILDINGS . GENE IS AT GAINESVILLE NOW MAKING PREPARATIONS TO GO.
