| PARAGOULD -- Jack Smith, 92, of Paragould died Saturday, Feb. 16, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born in the Finch community, he was a retired Greene County employee and a member of Finch Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Edward Smith of the Finch community; four daughters, Lola Clement of Paragould, Mary Sailor and Velta McNatt, both of Jonesboro, and Sylvia Hampton of Taylor, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Flora Alice Smith, one daughter, three sons, six brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Finch Baptist Church with Clyde Morris officiating. Burial will be in Finch Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould. Pallbearers will be Scotty Smith, Ronnie Smith, Ted McNatt, Danny Hileman, Randy Hileman, Marvin Hileman, Fred Hampton, James Hampton and Marvin Smith. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at Finch Baptist Church. --- Here are his parent's obits; The PARAGOULD SOLIPHONE 27 SEP. 1951 John Franklin Smith Dies At His Home John Franklin "Bud" Smith, age 84 years, of Route #3, died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Community Methodist Hospital following an illness due to a stroke. He was a native of Alabama, but had been a resident of Greene County most of his life. He was a farmer. Funeral services were conducted at two this afternoon at the Finch Church and burial was made at the Finch cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Rousseau, pastor of the East Side Baptist Church officiated. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Price Wax of Route 6, Mrs. Paul Gaines of Alviso,California, Mrs. Walter Strope of Luxora, Route one, Mrs. Jimmy Henley & Mrs. Jesse McKenzie both of St.Louis; seven sons, Jake Smith of Centerville,California, Hill Smith and John Smith of Route 3, App Smith of St.Louis, Jack Smith of Route one, Earl and Woodrow of Route 3; 59 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Laura Andrews, & Mrs. Sarah Watkins, both of Jonesboro. (Bud's parents were Seth Leathan Smith and Mathilda Nolan) On 15 Jan 1890 John F.Smith married Flora Alice Payne (daughter of James Clearence Payne and Alcidora Ward) b:6 Oct. 1784 AR- died 22 Aug 1945, when she was 70. Mrs Smith was a native of Greene County. Funeral services will be conducted at two tomorrow afternoon from the Finch church and burial will be made in the Finch cemetery. Surviving are her husband, John Franklin "Bud" Smith; five daughters; Mrs Price Wax of Route 3, Mrs. Paul Gaines of Alviso, California, Mrs Walter Stokes , Mrs Arthur Potkins, & Mrs. Jay Payne of Route 3; seven sons; Jake Smith of Tyler Texas, Hill Smith of Route 3, John L. Smith of Alviso, CA, Jack Smith of Lake City, Route 3, Earl Smith of Route 3,Cpl Woodrow Smith of Germany, & App Smith of St. Louis; a brother, Hill Payne of Route 3, a half sister, Mrs Maud Wood of Paragould, a half brother, Harmon Fletcher of Finch; and a large number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
