Amos Norman Cobbs, 86, of Paragould, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.He was born July 3, 1917, in Leachville. He was U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired federal employee. He was a deacon for 40 years in the state of Tennessee and attended Eastside Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Suedell Cobbs; his parents, William and Allie Cobbs; one brother, John C. Cobbs; and one sister, Thelma Coburn.Survivors include two brothers, Lynn Cobbs of Emma, Ky., and Hillis Cobbs of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one sister, Velma Pryor of Paragould; and several nieces and nephews.The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Bro. Greg Addison, Bro. Dennis Scudder, and Bro. Wayne Brightwell officiating. Burial will be at Wood's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.Pallbearers are Buford Adams, Joe Reeves, Less Ward, Bob Parks, Bob Morris and Harold Edwards.Honorary pallbearers are members of John Robinson's Sunday School class.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the Eastside Youth Ministry, Alzheimer's Group and St. Judes in Memphis, Tenn.
Luci Janette Forbs, 51, of Paragould, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.She was born April 1, 1952, in Lafe. She was a retired school cafeteria worker for the Paragould School District and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her father, Bennie Rogers.
Survivors include her husband, Rickie Forbs of Paragould; her mother, Lena Dacus Rogers of Paragould; three sons, Ben Forbs, Nate Forbs and Erik Williams, all of Paragould; one daughter, Mysti Forbs Imler of Lake City; one brother, David Rogers of Paragould; and one grandson, Cody Forbs of Paragould.The funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould with the Rev. Dennis Strope officiating. Burial was in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.Pallbearers were Roger Forbs, Dusty Forbs, J.W. Rawls, Leon Dacus, Darrell Rogers, Jr., and Erik Williams.Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Jessen and Nate Forbs.Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arah Frasure Carlton - Marmaduke
Arah Frasure Carlton, 84, of Marmaduke died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at The Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was a homemaker, a Catholic, and had lived in Marmaduke six months, formerly of Caraway.
She is survived by two sons, Dean Carlton and Mike Carlton, both of Paragould; a daughter, Mary Carlton Hester of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Barry
Carlton, Chad Carlton, Cindy Carlton Pruitt, all of Jonesboro, Todd Emison of Mountain Home, and Amie Carlton Busby of Paragould, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Carlton, her mother, Agnes Campbell Frasure, her father and stepmother, Frank and Corene Frasure, a brother, Harold Frasure, and two granddaughters.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at The Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Father John Marconi officiating. Burial was in the Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Bok Soon "Sue" Davis - Paragould
Bok Soon "Sue" Davis, 64, of Paragould died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Davis of Lake City; three sons, Donald Davis of Jonesboro, George Davis of Rota, Spain, and Charles Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Glenda Johnson of Jonesboro; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Elrod officiating. Burial was in Pine Log Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donald Hayes, Robert Erby, Bill Loucks, Jim Davis, Alan Orr and Adam Wooten.
O.T. Reinhart - Paragould
O.T. Reinhart, 88, of Paragould died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. Born in Lafe, he was a retired farmer and a member of Lafe Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Ralph Reinhart and Charles Reinhart, both of Lafe, Bill Reinhart of St. Charles, Mo., and Eldon Reinhart of Paragould; a daughter, Sharon Dowler of Lafe; two sisters, Rachel LeBlanc of Paragould and Irene Fletcher of Arbyrd; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Cole Reinhart; five brothers and three sisters.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lafe Baptist Church with Rev. David Roe and Rev. Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial was in the Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould was in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Doug Dowler, Nathan Reinhart, Tracy Reinhart, Jeff Reinhart, Chris Lamar, Gary Reinhart, Chad Agree and Keith Reinhart.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Cole, Jay Robinson, Robert Lynn Wrather, Weldon Roberts, Odell Roberts, Scott Watson, W.H. Cole, Russsell Stallcup and Dave Simpson.
Eva Jane Wiersema Ratliff, 73, of Paragould, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Imboden.
Born Aug. 31, 1930 in Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Ratliff was a retired riverboat cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Fannie Wiersema; three brothers, Roy Wiersema, Donnie Wiersema and Frank Stamper; and a son, Jens Allan Ratliff.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Lynn Ratliff of Jonesboro, Gil and Rhonda Ratliff of Tulsa, Okla., and Lynn and Julie Ratliff of Paragould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dee and Dave Shields of Jonesboro and Sheila and Kelley Mangrum of Paragould; three brothers, Bill Wiersema, Jim Wiersema and Jerry Wiersema; and 10 grandchildren, Allison Ratliff Camferdam, Elaine Ratliff Farris, Melissa Shields, Matt Shields, Jeremy Mangrum, Josh Mangrum, Sara Mangrum, Evan Ratliff, Bryce Ratliff and Byrun Ratliff.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Jonesboro Church of God with Jim Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
IMBODEN -- A Paragould couple died in a two-vehicle accident in Imboden Thursday morning.
According to a report from the Arkansas State Police Troop B in Newport, Eva Ratliff, 73, 6557 U.S. Highway 49 South, in Paragould, was traveling south along Arkansas Highway 115 in a Chevrolet pickup truck, which was pulling a trailer.
According to reports, the trailer began swaying from side to side, causing Ratliff to cross the center line, where she struck a northbound 2002 Ford pickup truck driven by Randall Lovelace, of Melbourne.
Devoe Ratliff, 82, also of 6557 U.S. 49 South, was a passenger in the Chevrolet pickup.
The Ratliffs were pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Corner Robert Warden.
Frank Metz and Paul Gill, also of Melbourne, were passengers in Lovelace's vehicle.
Lovelace, Metz and Gill were all transported to the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital with injuries.
Funeral arrangements for the Ratliffs are being handled by Roller-Farmer's Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
