Hurley Harrison BOWMAN , and his brother Harold Norman BOWMAN : arrived from Colo Springs. Sys. 5. 1913.came to Phoenix , Arizona on Oct . 24,1912,,and landed in camp on Oct 30 , 1913 ,They were Prospectors and mined for quick sliver, They lived in Saddle Mountain area north of Sunflower in Gila County ,and keep a daily diary, but I think he spent most of his time running down his burrows, His date book is dated 1912-1927, This Date Book was Left to E.C. Conway and was passed down to his daughter Jeanne Conway- Halmer ,only a few pages will be added to this site and are for your personal information and not for a commercial enterprise .and most of all Thank you again Jeanne for sharing the Dairies, Letters and Photos
I have listed some of the dates and names of the visitor's to the BOWMAN camp, and full names of the ones that were in the Date Book. if you have any questions on these books email me at azst@usgennet.org I do not have all the names listed .Bowman's date book's are dated 1912-1927 nine book's in all ,completed for a full year .They were Prospectors and mined for quick sliver, also they had gardens, livestock and fruit trees on which they lived on ,the winters were hard and cold ,They had to keep the trails cut back and clear for travel at all times ,shod their Burrows, repaired their own saddles, cloths , shoes and made their own soap even, W. McDevitt did a lot of building and cabinet making, dressing some of his work with Manzanita wood, he lived their with Bowman.
