Clean Up Photos (#1)
On May 23 and 24, 2002, EDCPCC was able to obtain a clean up crew through the California Dept. of Forestry's Growlersburg Conservation Camp located in Georgetown, El Dorado County. At the time of the clean up, it had been nearly 25 years since the County of El Dorado had last provided maintenance at the cemetery. The following photos are before and after views of the same cemetery.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This clean up would not have been possible if not through the courtesy of Unit
Chief Rich Green of the California Department of Forestry (CDF) of the
Amador-El Dorado District, and Captain Steve Gallegos
and Captain Jose Lopez of the Growlersburg California
Conservation Camp. We extend our sincerest appreciation for
their support and assistance in helping to fight back the cruelties of time and
neglect that have endangered this historic California cemetery.
We are also grateful to
the inmates of Growlersburg Crew No. 3 for their hard work and
attentiveness in assisting us to locate previously unknown graves and potential
graves in the cemetery, while they worked so hard to clear away nearly 25 years
of neglect.
For their generosity in
donating two substantial 20 yard dumpster containers in which all those years of
weeds, leaves and other debris were hauled away, we are grateful to Kathy
Hangartner and El Dorado Disposal Company for their spirit in
community service.
We gratefully acknowledge the
kindness and support of Assistant Manager Ellis McManus and Photo Lab
Supervisor Sarah of Longs Drug Store in Cameron Park for allowing
us a discounted price for the developing of the photographs taken at the Cold
Springs Cemetery clean up of May 23
and 24, 2002.
The assistance of all of
the above individuals has helped to prove that working together, the citizens of
El Dorado County can help to preserve, protect and restore our historic
cemeteries to the respectful condition they so rightfully deserve.
