FAIR PLAY
CEMETERY
El Dorado County, California
Plot Map: Section D
Section
D is located at the northwestern area south of the entrance gate of the cemetery. There are
also several problem areas in this section. Graves #46 and #47 are
unmarked graves within a plot space "claimed" by Fair Play area
residents for future use. Grave #73 is an unmarked and formerly unknown
grave which has been impacted by Grave #72.
Graves #77, #91,
#92, and #93, are also unmarked graves within a plot space "claimed"
by area residents for future use. The area around Grave #57 (dotted line
indicates plot "claimed") not occupied by that grave already as
portions of two unmarked graves within it's area.
Graves #23 (died
1864) and #24 and Graves #21 and #22 are impacting one another. Although
the map recorded by the County does not identify Grave #24 by name, it is the
grave of George Varney, an infant who died in 1871. His broken, nearly
unreadable marker (today) was recorded in sequence from Grave #23 in the early
1980s. It is more likely that Grave #21 and #22 impacted graves #23 and
#24 after 1864 and 1871.
Graves #28, #3, #4, and
#1 are fully under the road. Portions of Graves # 2 and #5 are partially
beneath the road. Grave #44 has been impacted by Grave #60 (died 1978).
