James T. Gore lives at Mayhews in Sacramento county, where he owns and operates an excellent ranch of one hundred and fifty acres devoted principally to the vineyard industry. One of the well known viticulturists of the American River district, Mr. Gore has also for many years been identified with the best civic and business interests of his county.

Born at Harrisburg, Kentucky, he came to California when eleven years old and has lived in Sacramento county every since, being practically reared and educated here, where he has likewise found the field of his life's endeavors. He belongs to one of the good old Kentucky families, being a son of Lewis and Sophia (Vaughn) Gore, native Kentuckians, the father now deceased and the mother living in Harrisburg, that state. He is a first cousin of the famous Colonel Jack Chinn of the Bluegrass state, and also a first cousin of the famous Civil war reaider and cavalryman, General John Morgan.

Mr. Gore was educated in the public schools of Sacramento county. He began for himself in agricultural operations some twenty years ago, and in 1893 he went into the grape-growing business, which he has conducted on an extensive scale down to date. His Sacramento residence is at 717 I street. He has so far spent his life a bachelor. Social of nature, a genial man to meet at any time, he enjoys the confidence and esteem of his fellow citizens in a high degree. As far as politics are concerned he generally votes an independent ticket, and in community and county affairs his hel and co-operation may be depended upon wherever the welfare of all may be promoted.
