MCCLANAHAN, 1815 in MD NOTES: Horace Barker was a physician (Allopath) in Denver. He also had a pharmacy located on Holladay St. (which might be near where the Pepsi Center is now located). The ancestor's of Horace G. Barker came to the U.S. in 1638 on the ship "John of London" as part of Governor Winthrop's group. They stayed in Salem, MA for the winter and then moved on to Rowley, MA. The Barker family has had sons that participated in every war fought by the U.S. Samuel Barker, Sr was a tailor and it is said that he was contracted to make some of General George Washington's uniforms. His sewing shears and other trade equipment are on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
