Milton Smith, lawyer, was born
in Flatbushville, Sussex county, New Jersey, January 31, 1866.
He removed to Ulster county, New York, in 1879 and was graduated
from the High School at Ellenville, New York, in 1882, winning
a competitive scholarship for a full course as Cornell University.
After four years at Cornell he was graduated with the degree
of Ph. B.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Chi Psi and Phi Delta Phi fraternities,
and was the formers chief executive for the United States
in 1886 and 1887. His course at Cornell included law, and
he was admitted to the bar in 1889. He then came to Denver
and engaged in practice which, to a great extent, is in mining,
corporation, insurance and irrigation litigation. He is
a member of the University and Denver Athletic Clubs, takes an
active interest in State politics, and for several years has been
Chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee.
