HEDGES
Received 8/6/99
Looking for anything at all on the following people:

Hiram (and maybe his first or middle name was Percy) HEDGES, born about 1847, married 15 Mar 1869 in Winfield, COWLEY COUNTY, KS to Iona Corby. He and Iona moved to Colorado before 1886 as their son, Percy Hiram was born there near Grenada, Prowers County on 6 Nov 1886.

I have been trying for 5 years to find any little snippet for an elderly cousin, the son of Percy Hiram, who grew up knowing nothing about his grandfather because Iona's second husband forbade her ever to speak of her first husband! And boy, she did not. None of her children know anything except the facts above.

My cousin is losing his eyesight, so I renew my search and hope someone can help. Thank you so very much.

NEWELL, BUNCH
Received Apr 5, 1999
I am looking for anyone with information on my great grandmother Savanah Newell and her husband Frank Campbell Bunch.

Savanah Newell was born in 1893 in Barber County Kansas to George Washington Newell and Nancy Fisher (Newell). She lived there until 1914 when she moved to Colo. at the opening of the Cherokee Strip when she then homesteaded in Kiowa County. If anyone has info. on the Cherokee strip I would appreciate that also. She was one of the first women allowed to vote in Colorado. In 1916 she married Frank Campbell Bunch, born to James J. Bunch and Sarah Martha Curry, in Lamar. In 1917 Frank took a physical for the draft(W.W.I.) but was deaf in one ear, classified as 4-F. 1917 his first son Ernest Eldon was born. 1918 the War ended so Frank moved his family to Hebron, Nebraska to work in his father's garage and lived there for 1 1/2 years. April 13, 1919 2nd son Floyd Cecil was born.

Frank had a homestead next to Savannah's in Kiowa Co. Colo. which he traded in 1919-1920 for a homestead in the San Luis Valley (Costilla Co.?) where he lost everything on sheep. They pulled up everything and moved to Jarosa, Colo. In 1921 Hazel Arlene was born and in 1923 Betty Ann was born. They next moved to Canon City, time unsure of, 2 more children were born there- Mary June in 1926 and Herbert Hoover in 1928.

The Stock market crashed in 1929 and in March Frank disappeared with no trace, leaving his wife and 6 children. Of the 6 children only 1 remains living, my great-aunt Mary who resides in Portland, Oregon. I am interested in finding where my great-grandparents' homesteads were located, my grandmother's is believed to still be in the family and I am interested in any information on my great-grandfather Frank Campbell Bunch. My grandfather stated that he was a good father but why would he leave a loving family so suddenly? Was it the Mafia? Was it foul play?

I may be contacted through email at: terrapin@bewellnet.com or terrapin@softhome.net
Thank you, Teresa Walter

Searching for any information on the Glovers that lived in and about Prowers County. My grandmother's name was Josphine Lorene Glover, the child of Charles H. Glover and Mary M. Mayfield. I have information that the name of her siblings are: Jeff, Bill, Alameda, and Maudie. Some may still have family in the Prowers County area. Josphine married Louis W. Smith in 1919 or 1920. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your help.
