The Granada City Complex now has beautiful landscaping due to the generous donation by Timberline Landscaping Inc. This company is owned and operated by Tim & Mindy (Grasmick) Emick.
Tim and Mindy, along with their sons, Cameron and Colton, began this project last fall and finished it this May. They wanted to do the landscaping as a remembrance of Mindy's mother, Joann Grasmick.
With the help of Junior and Kay Grasmick, work first began with the placing of the sprinkler system. Also helping with this endeavor were: Donald Emick, and his son Josh, along with Lucas Portillo, Brian Hall, and Neil Emick. They put in trees, bushes and flowers around the outside of the complex.
This past May, the sod was put down with the help of community members and a work crew from Grasmick Inc.
The community of Granada appreciates all of the hard work and time by Tim and Mindy, and all who assisted in this project.

Linda, Terry, Tom, Savanna and Amber at the GRANADA CAFÉ would like to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to the following:
Shorty at S & S Café    Norma & Fred at Stop 2 Shop
Sylwa's Liquor    Grasmick Inc.
Citizens of Granada

Thank you for your help in getting the café open and to the community for your support!

GRANADA PRIDE MINUTES

Eleven people met at the school for the June meeting.
Shannon Venturi gave the treasurer's report with a balance of $10.963.63. Bills were approved to H & H Construction in the amount of $4938.00 for the sidewalk and Patties Potties for $434.56. This leaves a balance of $5591.07.
The committee applied and received their federal tax exemption status. All donations can now be deducted on donor's federal taxes.
The Draft Horse Pull and Ranch Rodeo held on May 27 was a success. The Pride Committee made $600.00, and the fire department made approximately $900.00. The committee would like to have the Horse Pull again next year as an annual event.
The next priority of the committee is to put in a cement driveway to the fire department side of the city complex. The cost of this project will be $3307.00.
Completion of the outside of the building, which includes gutters and awnings, is the next priority.
   Future fundraisers were discussed.
   Meeting was adjourned.

GRANADA/BRISTOL DAY

WHERE THE FUN NEVER ENDS...

The weather was perfect, old and new events were there, and the people who attended had a great time. The 10th Annual Granada/Bristol Day, which was celebrated on June 16th, gave the community and alumni a chance to get together, visit and have a good time.
The morning began with the Amache Run/Walk. Colorado East Bank & Trust of Granada helped sponsor this event, which had approximately 20 entries. Brett Clark won the Men's Run, Patsy Mirales won the Women's Run and Samantha Bezona won the Walk. Each winner received a savings bond provided by CEB&T. Lance Clark was first in the Boy's Run.
At 9 am, everyone hurried down to the track and field for Argie's Famous Flyover. Kids from all over participated, and people who were here for the ball tournament commented, “the flyover was absolutely the greatest thing that they had ever seen!”
The Granada Fire Department led the parade with Ty Harmon, our MC, introduced the participants. Local pioneers participating were: Leora Creech, Rita Gomez, Clyde & Marie Kennedy and Bobbie Thrall. Following Dee Melgosa, representing Bison Title Co., were kids with their decorated bikes, go-carts and motor bikes. Bill Lutz rode his tractor, M&M Daycare had their van, Nataljia Adame rode on a car, Argie Thrall drove his mini-plane, and the Granada EMT's entered the ambulance. Bringing up the rear, was Fred Dorenkamp, representing Granada Stop 2 Shop, with his team Clee & Cody pulling the buckboard.
In other events during the day, Ruben DeLaRosa defended his title in the Horseshoe Contest. Abbie Harmon had the fastest frog and Tanner Grasmick was a winner with the slowest frog. These winners took home water blasters donated by CEB&T. Crystal Chavez won the Hoop Shoot Contest.
Prizes were given out, during the day, to people who were here enjoying the Granada City Complex Open House. Brandon White-Grasmick was the winner of the 50-50 Drawing. Norma Dorenkamp was the winner of the Penny Contest sponsored by CEB&T.
In the afternoon, everyone enjoyed the music provided by Shadow Mountain Productions, aka Butch Buchanan. People sat in the shade and visited, while watching Tiny's Country Store end the day by winning the Volleyball Competition.
The Granada/Bristol Day Committee would like to thank all of the people and businesses, who helped with this years events. It was a very enjoyable day, and we hope to see you next year!

KARA DORENKAMP
CERTIFIED AS ESMT

Kara Dorenkamp, ESMT recently completed a 150 hour course to become certified as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist. The role of a therapist can be compared to that of an athletic trainer in human sports medicine. As a sports therapist treats injuries, an equine therapist applies the same techniques to the equine athlete.
Kara will be working with veterinarians, as well as horse owners in applying these techniques that prove that preventive and post-injury muscle work can save time and money.
Kara can be contacted at 719-734-5561 for information regarding equine therapy.

FSA ACREAGE REPORTS

FSA Offices are currently accepting acreage reports for crops. The final date to report all crops is July 16th. Measurement service is available for determining your crop acreage. If you have a crop that fails, make sure you report that acreage to the FSA office for history purposes. If that crop is a non-insurable crop you need to report the crop loss immediately and request an appraisal prior to destruction.
New form required for FAXed signatures.
Spouses are allowed to sign on behalf of each other, unless written notice denying this privilege has been filed in the FSA office. Husband and wife “official” joint ventures or partnerships must have a power of attorney on file to sign for the entity.
