I came across this roll of film at my Family History Center. It is part of the "Easter Collection" The title on the film

is New York Suffolk, Ulster County Land Deeds, Marriages, Rec 1838-71, Box #29 Easter 20231702. They

are not part of the Family history films, they were donated about ten years ago by a researcher named Easter.

For many years, during the early history of Connecticut we find Poundridge, NY, acting as a Gretna Green for couples from Ridgefield, Wilton, Norwalk and Stamford. As the Early vital records of Poundridge were destroyed by fire, a large number of Fairfield County marriages have never been recorded. This record of Squire Fancher, the marrying Justice of Peace, may in a slight measure fill in the vacancies, and prove a solution to a researchers problems, although probably some of the later ones will be found in their proper vital reecord volumes.
