husband of Helen Flanagan Armonath, died on Friday, January 14, 2000, in

BANAS Anna C. Suhanovsky age 93, of Trumbull, died on Friday,
January 14, 2000, in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. She was the
widow of Andrew Banas. Born in Bridgeport, she had been a resident for most
of her life, having moved to Trumbull nine years ago. She was retired from
Harvey Hubbell. Survivors include two beloved children, Dorothy Kenney of
Trumbull, James Banas, and his wife Joan of Shelton; seven grandchildren,
Michael Kenney, Rusty Kenney, Kevin Kenney, Caroline Ruddy, Linda Sanchez,
David Banas and Richard Banas; one great-granddaughter, Megan Kenney; and
several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on
Tuesday, January 18, at 10 a.m. directly at St. Theresa Church with a Mass
of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Michael Cemetery. The family has requested

BARTHOLOMAE Mr. Charles age 80, of
Stratford, and formerly of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and Madison, New
Jersey, died on Thursday, January 13, 2000, in Saint Vincent's Medical Center,
Bridgeport. He was a retired Certified Public Accountant with the Public
Service Electric and Gas Company of New Jersey. Born in Newark, N.J. , Mr.
Bartholomae had lived in New Jersey most of his life, retiring to Cape Cod
in 1980. He had been a Stratford resident for the past five years. He received
his undergraduate degree, and his M.B.A. from Rutgers University, and was
a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a Warrant Officer
with the Combat Engineers in Europe. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, and was active in many professional and civic organizations. He was
the husband of the late Marjorie Desch Bartholomae. Survivors include: his
children, Judith C. Hueser and her husband, John, of Danbury, Charles Bartholomae
and his wife, Louise E., of Weston; a brother, Thomas Bartholomae, of Forked
River, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Charles Thomas Bartholomae, Stephen
Hueser, Andrew Hueser, and Elizabeth Hueser; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2000, at 10 a.m. in
the Chapel at Grace Lutheran Church, 150 Chapel Street, Stratford. Interment
with Military Honors will follow in Saint Peter's Cemetery, Danbury. Friends

CITRIN Nina M. RN, age 51, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000, from brain
cancer. She is survived by her husband, Dan Gersten and their 12-year old
son, Matthew, who reside in Agoura Hills, Calif. A California resident for
the last three years, she lived in Fairfield from 1985 to 1996. As a Connecticut
resident, she held positions of Director of Physician Services at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Stamford, Executive Director of IVF America (formerly IVF Australia)
Program at United Hospital in Port Chester, N.Y., Product Manager for Alcide
Corporation in Norwalk, and Director of Quality Assurance for Partners-In-Care,
a profit-making subsidiary of Visiting Nurse Service of New York in New York
City. She also served as a nurse/health consultant to a number of child daycare
facilities and nursing homes in Fairfield County, and as a registered nurse
at Willow's Pediatric in Westport. Services will be held on Sunday, January
16, 2000, at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary in Westlake Village,
California. Donations in Nina's name can be made to Trinity Care Hospice
in Torrance, Calif., or to Dr. Timothy Cloughesy at UCLA Department of Neurology.
COSTANTINO Madeline Moriarty age 76, widow of Angel Costantino
of Bridgeport, died on Friday, January 14, 2000, in Carolton Convalescent
Home, Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, she was a retired secretary for the
Fermont Corp. Survivors include one sister, Margaret Webb of Spark, Nev.;
her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Ted and Louise Montroy, Nick and
Gloria Simoncelli and Lanell Costantino. She was also survived by several
nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday,
January 18, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of St. Margaret's Shrine, with a Mass
of Christian Burial. Private interment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery,

CROOKS Rita Carlson age 78, of Bridgeport, died on Saturday, January
15, 2000, in St. Vincent s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Mrs. Crooks was born
in Bridgeport, and was a lifelong resident. She was a retired employee for
the former City Trust Bank. She was the widow of Robert Crooks. Survivors
include two sons, Jeffrey Crooks, and his wife, Judith of Bridgeport, Jarett
Crooks, and his wife, Mary of Trumbull; one daughter, Joyce Edgart, and her
husband, Paul of Meriden; one sister, Shirley Zmijewski of Trumbull; seven
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother,

DeJESUS Milagros entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 13,
2000, in Bridgeport Hospital. She was born May 14, 1939, in Mayaquz, Puerto
Rico. She was a lifetime resident of Bridgeport. Milagros leaves to mourn
her passing, one son, David DeJesus; four daughters, Carmen Nieves, Rosie,
Nancy and Daisy DeJesus; six sisters, Raguel Laguna, Elba Rivera, Maria Gonzalez,
Soccoro'del Valle, Angela Melendez and Maria Robles; two brothers, Juan and
Johnson Serrano; 11 grandchildren, Jay, Joey, Jessey, William, C.J., Nathisha,
David, Iris, David, Vannessa and Kathy; and a host of relatives and friends.

DELANEY Alice Osborne Flynn age 81, of First
Avenue, died on Friday, January 14, 2000, after an illness. She was the wife
of John J. Delaney. She was born on January 22, 1918, in Barre, Mass., daughter
of the late Edward J. and Nellie Osborne Flynn. She was a retired post master
for Wheelwright Mass Post Office, and office manager for Fitzpatrick-Chrysler
of Ansonia for over 25 years. She was a communicant of St. Augustine s Church,
and a member of the former Seymour Women s Club. Survivors in addition to
her husband include one son, John E. Delaney of Durham; three daughters,
Jean Sharon of Ellington, Joan Anderson of Ansonia, and Judith Flood of Seymour;
one sister, Mirian Beckwith of Fitchburg, Mass.; ten grandchildren and eight
great-granchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

DESILETS SR. Leo J. age 84, beloved husband of the late Mary
Suita Desilets, died Saturday January 15, 2000, in St. Vincent s Medical
Center, Bridgeport . Born in Montpelier, Vermont, he was a lifelong resident
of the Bridgeport/Stratford area. Leo was a postal clerk for over twenty
five years at the Middle Street Station, and was also a member of their Quarter
Century Club. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the Army as a Staff
Sergeant. He participated in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member
of A.A.R.P. Survivors include; his beloved children, a daughter Leona Murzyn
and her husband, Stephen, of Stratford, a son, Leo J. Desilets, Jr. and his
wife, Glenda, of Milford; six grandchildren, Donna Melin, Stephen Murzyn,
Lori Brown, Amber Desilets, Randy Clare and Ryan Clare; nine great-grandchildren;
a sister, Doris Babick, of Vermont; several nieces and nephews. Friends are

DOEBELI Charles A. age 79, of Fairfield, died on Saturday, January
15, 2000, in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Doebeli was born in Bridgeport, and
was a lifelong area resident. He was a retired lieutenant for the Bridgeport
Fire Department. He was a U.S. World War II Army veteran serving in the
European-African Campaign, and was a member of BARF. Survivors include his
wife, Neda Narucci Doebeli of Fairfield; two sisters, Primrose D. Bonta of
Columbus, Ohio, and Frida D. Mixson of Sun City, Fla.; and several nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred C. Deobeli. Friends

FERIK Mary Miklos of Trumbull, died on Thursday, January 13,
2000, in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was the widow of John Ferik. Born in Budkovce,
Slovakia, Mrs. Ferik immigrated to the United States in 1928, and had resided
in Bridgeport for many years prior to moving to Trumbull six years ago. She
had been a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols, Wreath 39 and was an avid
bingo player. Survivors include two beloved sons, Michael Ferik and his wife,
Ann of Trumbull, and Robert Ferik and his wife, Carol of Huntington; one
daughter-in-law, Claire Ferik of Washington; eight grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother in Slovakia. She had been
predeceased by a son, John Ferik. Friends are invited to attend the funeral

FOWLER Nell T. age 83, of Viscount Drive, Milford, died on Sunday,
January 15, 2000, in Milford Health Care Center. She is the widow of the
late Marshall Fowler. Mrs. Fowler is survived by her daughter, Judith, and
her husband, Vito DiMartino of Milford. Calling hours are Monday, January

FRASHEFSKI Agnes age 94, of Wilkes Barre, Pa., formerly of Bridgeport,
passed away January 13, 2000. Mrs. Frashefski retired from American Fabrics
Co. in 1971 and returned to her birthplace of Pennyslvania. She was predeceased
by her beloved husband, Frank Frashefski and son, Edward. Survivors include
two sons, Clarence Frashefski of Conroe, Texas and Richard Frashefski of
Stratford; two daughters, Dorothy Cupp of Mt. Top, Pa. and Grace Kozich of
Plains, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will
be held in Pennsylvania.
GLEBA Irene C. Mayernik age 76, of Stratford, died on Thursday,
January 13, 2000, in Backus Memorial Hospital, Norwich. Born in Bridgeport,
she was a lifelong resident of Stratford, and was a member of the Baldwin
Center Seniors. Mrs. Gleba was the widow of Frank Gleba and is survived by
her two daughters, Barbara Diakoumis of Ansonia, and Kathleen Wallick and
her husband, David, of Lisbon, Conn.; four granddaughters, Kelly and Irene
Diakoumis, and Heather and Melissa Wallick; three great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:15

GRAPSKI Gregory A. age 36, of New York City, formerly of Fairfield,
died on Thursday, January 13, 2000, in St. Vincent s Medical Center, Bridgeport.
Born in Bridgeport, Mr. Grapski lived in the Fairfield and Easton area most
of his life. He was a graduate of Wabash College and received his law degree
from Quinnipiac College. He was practicing law in New York City. Survivors
include his parents, Bernard and Joan Grapski; two brothers, Michael Grapski
of Fairfield, and Matthew Grapski and his wife, Linda of Milford; one sister,
Kimberly Allen and her husband, Jeff of Fairfield; his maternal grandmother,
Dorothy Savage of Fairfield; his paternal grandfather, Bernard Grapski Sr.,
of Bradenton, Fla.; two nieces and two nephews. A Memorial Service will be

GREANEY Mary H. Shine of Harkness Drive, Milford, beloved wife
of Jerry Greaney, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2000, in Mediplex of Southern
Connecticut, Milford. Mrs. Greaney was born in New Market, County Cork, Ireland,
to the late John and Hannah McCarthy Shine. She was a longtime resident of
Bridgeport before moving to Milford nine years ago. Mrs. Greaney was employed
by the City of Bridgeport as a Nurses Aide for the former Dinan Memorial
Center, until her retirement. In addition to her husband, she is survived
by two sons, John Greaney of Milford, and Michael Greaney of West Hartford;
two daughters, Helena Greaney and her husband, Joseph Wygal of Somerville,
Mass., and Mary Greaney and her husband, Robert Mead of Milford; a brother,
John Shine of Adel, Ore.; two sisters, Nora Mahoney of Ireland, and Bridie
Kiley of Lakeview, Ore.; a grandson, Jeremiah Mead; and several nieces and

GRIFFIN Carol (O'Brien) age 68, of Stratford, beloved
wife of the late Lawrence M. Griffin, entered into eternal rest after a long
illness on Friday, January 14, 2000, at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by
her loving family. Mrs. Griffin was born in Bridgeport, October 14, 1931,
to the late Ralph and Ethel (Judson) O'Brien. She graduated from Stratford
High School in 1949, and was a homemaker and Stratford resident her entire
life. After her children were grown, Mrs. Griffin was employed by the State
of Connecticut for many years. She was the devoted mother of one son, James
Lawrence Griffin, and his wife, Eileen of Bankok, Thailand; four daughters,
Laurel Adams, and her husband, Mark of Branford, Lisa Griffin, and companion,
Ernesto Cruz of Branford, Elizabeth Griffin and Mary Jean D'Onofrio, both
of Stratford; and the devoted grandmother of Michael D'Onofrio Jr., Justin
and Kaylan Adams, Emma, Maeve and Laura Grffin, and Stephen Cruz. She is
also survived by one devoted sister, Jean O'Brien of bridgeport; two
sisters-in-law, Kathryn Griffin of Bridgeport, and Ann McCullock of Port
Charlotte, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends, especially

JACKSON Naomi J. (Rust) ge 68, of Tewksbury, Mass., formerly of Bridgeport
and Stratford, died Wednesday, January 5, 2000. She was the mother of Paul
D. Sova of Springdale, Ariz., Wendy I. Dulac of Methuen, Mass., and Allison
L. Brouillard of North Haven. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Betty
(Bokina) Rust; sister of Paul "Buzz" Rust of Pennsylvania and John "Jack"
Rust of Stratford; grandmother of Michael Sova and Jordan Revis. She also

JARVIS Christina M. age 54, of Trumbull, an executive assistant for
the Town of Trumbull Board of Education, died on Wednesday, January 5, 2000,
in her residence. Born in Norwalk, she was a daughter of Mary Maniglio Renzulli
of Westport and the late Louis Renzulli. Mrs. Jarvis graduated from Staples
High School, Westport in 1963 and Berkley Secretarial School in 1964. In
May 1999 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Sacred Heart University with
a B.S. degree in Business Administration. She was a member of Delta Mu Delta,
the National Business Honor Society, and Delta Epsilon Sigma, the National
Scholastic Honor Society, and was also a board member of Aquaculture Foundation
in Bridgeport. In addition to her mother, survivors include her beloved husband,
Stephen S. Jarvis III; a son, Stephen Jarvis of Trumbull; a daughter, Kimberly
Jarvis of Somersworth, N.H.; and a sister, Mary Ann Corarito of Rowe, Mass.

Johnson was born in Winona, Minn., and was an area resident for many years.
She was a retired employee of the Bryant Electric Company in Bridgeport.
She was the widow of Ralph T. Johnson Sr. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth

and Ralph (Skip) Johnson of Fairfield; two daughters, Lorraine Lease of
Tallahassee, Fla., and Gayle Griffin of Fairfield; two sisters, Ronnie Sartin
of Townsend, Del., and Constance Foraker of Clayton, Del.; 22 grandchildren;

JUDSON Georgia Marie Baird age 77, of Fairfield and Baker's
Island, Mass., wife of the late Frank E. Judson Jr., died suddenly in Bridgeport
Hospital on Sunday, January 2, 2000. Born in Bridgeport on April 14, 1922,
she was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Lillian Hennings Baird. She
is survived by her four loving children, David B. Judson and his wife, Gail,
of Seymour, Deborah J. and her husband, Richard Garavel, of Southport, Dale
E. and her husband, Roger Targowski, of Satellite Beach, Fla., Daniel R.
Judson Esq. of Beverly, Mass.; three beloved granddaughters, Amy Beth T.
and her husband, Brian Loar, of Viera, Fla., Abigail R. Targowski of New
York City, Julia E. Garavel of Southport; a much loved younger brother, Dr.
William H. Baird, MD of Milford; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her older brother Frank H. Baird. Georgia was a graduate of Fairfield
High School class of 1940, and the Junior College of Connecticut. She worked
with her parents operating the Ivy Inn at Fairfield Beach and the Baird Catering
Service. She then ran her own successful catering service for many years.
A parishioner of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Georgia served many years on
the Altar Guild and was president of the Episcopal Churchwomen's Club and
was state president of the Connecticut Churchwomen. A past president of the
Southport Women's Club, Georgia was active in many facets of the club, and
won many state awards for needlepoint and floral arranging and presently
served as vice president. Georgia was also a member and was currently serving
as vice president of Unit 74, American Legion Auxiliary of Fairfield. Friends
are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church,
661 Old Post Road, Fairfield, on Saturday, January 8, 2000, at 1 p.m. with
a reception in the parish hall to follow. Interment in Lawncroft Cemetery

KEATING Mary M. age 89, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday,
January 5, 2000 in her residence. Miss Keating was born in Newtown, Conn.,
and was an area resident most of her life. She was a retired principal for
both William Samuel Johnson School and Hallen School of Bridgeport. She was
a graduate of the Bridgeport Normal School. She received her BS degree from
Southern Conn. State University and her Masters Degree from New York University
and her sixth year professional diploma from Fairfield University. She was
a member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association, the N.E.A.
and the C.E.A. and the Council of Catholic Women. She was a long time volunteer
for St. Augustine s Parish, serving on the Advisory Board and the Stable

KILDUFF Evelyn age 89, of Ansonia died on January 12, 2000 at home.
She was the widow of the late Martin Kilduff. Born on February 13, 1910,
she was the daughter of the late William and Eva Burleigh. Evelyn was a lifelong
resident of Ansonia and a retired Registered Nurse. She was employed at the
Griffin Hospital, Derby and retired in 1962. She was a Communicant of Assumption
Church Ansonia. Graduated from Assumption Grammer School and the Griffin
Hospital School of Nursing. Survivors include; two daughters, Margaret V.
Roberts, of Ansonia, Eleanor Smith, of Seymour; four grandchildren;three
great-grandchildren; predeceased by two brothers, William Bruleigh and Russell
Burleigh, and one sister, Eleanor Burleigh. Services will be private at the

KOVER Istvan (Steve) age 70, beloved husband of Piroska Vajda
Kover, of Fairfield, died Thursday, January 13, 2000, in Bridgeport Hospital.
Born in Hungary, Mr. Kover was a Fairfield resident for more than 40 years.
He had retired from Bridgeport Machines. He enjoyed boating and was an avid
fisherman. In addition to his dear wife, Piroska, Steve is survived by four
daughters, Edith Knapp of California, Anna Rodriguez of Florida, Pearl Baskett
of Texas, and Mary Gagnon of Terryville, Conn.; six grandchildren, Stephen
Knapp, Justin and Mandy Baskett, Kevin, Melissa and Jesse Gagnon; a
great-grandson, Stephen Knapp Jr.; two brothers in Hungary; three sisters-in-law;
three brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will

KRAUSE John J. Krause Jr., age 77, of Milford, died on Tuesday, January
4, 2000, in his home. He was the widower of Margaret Mojcik Krause. Born
in Bridgeport, he had resided on Sage Avenue for over 45 years prior to moving
to Milford two years ago. Mr. Krause was a World War II United States Army
veteran. He was retired from General Electric where he had worked for 20
years and had previously been employed at Singer Manufacturing for 25 years.
He had been a member of the Rosebud s A.C. Survivors include two beloved
sons, David Krause and his wife Lisa, of Monroe and Kenneth Krause and his
wife Patricia, of Milford; one daughter, Joan Pallock and her husband John,
of Monroe; one brother, Edward Krause of Stratford; one sister, Dorothy Ostman
of Monroe; four grandchildren, John Pallock and his wife Lynn, Jim Pallock
and his wife Debbie, Kenneth Krause Jr., and Abby Krause; three
great-grandchildren, Jake, Haleigh and Joey; and several nieces and nephews.
He had been predeceased by a daughter, Linda Krause. Friends are invited

LaBARBA Joan M. LaBarba, age 57, of 845 Old Waterbury
Road, Southbury, died Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at Waterbury Hospital.
She was the wife of Louis LaBarba, Jr. Mrs. LaBarba was born on September
17, 1942 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Vincent and Anna (Prokop) Vitkowski.
She was a Southbury resident since 1978, and had been the assistant manager
for Union Trust Bank in Southbury, where she had worked for 20 years. Besides
her husband of 40 years, she leaves one son, Louis V. LaBarba III of Southbury;
two daughters, Trana M. Zuraitis of Middlebury, and Trisha A. LaBarba of
Southbury; two brothers, Joseph Vitkowski of West Haven, and John Vitkowski
of Stratford; four sisters, Anne cennamo and Theresa Parker, both of Trumbull,
Helen Spadalino of Stratford, and Rita Onze of Milford; her son-in-law, Michael
Zuraitis; and two grandsons, Joshua and Zachary Zuraitis, all of Middlebury.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 8, 2000, at 12:30 p.m. in Sacred

Stratford, to the late Stephen and Anna Mihalik, she was an area resident
for many years. Mrs. Linderfelt was retired from SNET Co., and was predeceased
by a son, Robert Linderfelt; and a brother Stephen Mihalik. Survivors include;

LYNN Jeffrey Lynn, age 52, beloved husband of Criselda Briones Lynn,
of Fairfield, died on Thursday, January 14, 2000, in St. Vincent s Medical
Center, Bridgeport. Born in England, he had worked for E.W. Howell Co. as
a controller accountant. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter,
Michele Lynn; and a son, Mark Lynn, both of Fairfield; as well as his parents,

MAGERA Michael age 76, of Trumbull, beloved
husband of Alice (Alexandra) Karmas Magera, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2000,
in Bridgport Hospital. Born in Fairfield, he was the son of the late Michael
and Helen Magera. A resident of Trumbull for many years, Michael was a plant
superintendent for Bridgeport Machines, where he worked for over 30 years,
and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. A veteran of World War II,
Mike had served in the Air Force. A member of the VFW Trumbull Memorial Post
10059, he was also a 32nd Degree Mason of the St. John Lodge A.F. and A.M.,
where he had actively participated. Survivors in addition to his loving wife,
Alice are his devoted children, Michael Magera, and his wife, Regina of Shelton,
Sharon Magera of Trumbull, Cam Magera, and his wife, Kathe of Mass.; his
grandchildren, David, Laura and Holly Magera; his sister, Margaret Kosma

MALONEY Catherine "Cas" Faulkner age 90, of Fairfield, died
Friday, January 14, 2000, in her home. Born in West Berlin, New Jersey, Mrs.
Maloney was a resident of Yonkers, New York, for twenty-two years and Hartsdale,
New York for twenty five years, prior to relocating to fairfield eight years
ago. She was a devoted member of Assumption Church. Mrs. Maloney is the beloved
mother of one son, Robert F. Maloney and his wife, Karen, of Southport; one
daughter, Joanne Dobransky and her husband, Edward, of Fairfield; four
grandchildren, Katie, Fitz, Matt & Todd Maloney; and a niece, Carole
Ann Naso, of Teaneck, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin

MAVRIDES Esther age 70, of Bridgeport, died
January 14, 2000, in Gaylord of Wallingford. Born in Bridgeport, Esther was
the daughter of the late Christ and Helen Mellas Mavrides. A lifelong resident
of Bridgeport, she was a sales lady for the Fairfield Department Store for
seven years before retiring and had previously worked for D.M. Read s for
twenty seven years. She had been a member of their Quarter Century Club.
She was specifically acknowledged for her dedicated service at Read s. She
was a member of the Philoptochos Society and Senior Citizens of Holy Trinity
Greek Orthodox Church. Survivors include; her two devoted sisters, Barbara
Anton, of Bridgeport, Irene Mellas and her husband, James, of Trumbull; nieces
and nephews, Kristine Pappas and her husband, Arthur, John Harry Anton and
his fiancee, Barbara Turco, Ellen-Ann Anderson and her husband, Jonathan,

MILANO Elizabeth "Beth" Josephine age 90,
of Bradenton, Fla., entered into eternal rest on December 18, 1999, in Bradenton
after a short illness. Miss Milano was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the
late Antonio and Maddalena (Colonnese) Milano. She graduated from Connecticut
State Teachers College with a B.S. degree, Fairfield University with a Masters
degree, and Columbia University with a sixth year certificate and credits
towards a PHD. Beth began her career as an elementary teacher in the Bridgeport
school system and retired after 40 years of service as a principal, most
notably of Webster and Franklin Schools. After World War II, she taught in
Germany. She took pride in teaching her students reading, writing, and
arithmetic, and was an avid reader and storyteller. She was a Charter member
of Sigma Iota Theta Sorority. Beth was a world wide traveler, from South
and Central America to Europe and Asia, and was fortunate to have traveled
twice around the world. Fluent in six languages, she loved to explore the
unknown and was always happy to meet new friends and cultures. She was proud
of her Italian heritage and enjoyed listening to the Opera. Upon her retirement
from the Bridgeport school system, she relocated to Bradenton, Florida. She
was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, and Ladies Guild, and donated countless
hours to the church soup kitchen, feeding the homeless. She is survived by
her nephews, Anthony Milano, and his wife, Carol of Southington, Robert Vechiola
of Derby, William Vechiola, and his wife, Karen Moyher of Trumbull, and James
Vechiola of Fairfield; her great-niece, Stephanie Milano-Parsons, and her
husband, David; and their daughter, Hilary; her great-nephews, Christopher
Milano, Patrick and Lee Vechiola; her sister-in-law, Marie Milano of Bridgeport;
her cousins, Frank, Gloria, and Grace Colonnese, and family of Bradenton;
and her devoted neighbor and friend, Dennis Fields and his wife, Claudette
and family of Bradenton. Elizabeth was predeceased by her brothers, Patsy,
Gasper and A. Fred Milano; and her sisters, Ruby Kupidlowski, Edith Milano
and Marion Vechiola. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, January
8, 2000 at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford.
Interment will follow in St. Michael s Cemetery, Stratford. There will be

MOORE Hazel Hill age 79, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000,
in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Moore was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., and was
an area resident most of her life. She was a member of the Black Rock
Congregational Church Bible Study Group and the Young at Heart Group, and
was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ogdensburg, N.Y. She was
the widow of John J. Moore Jr. Survivors include one daughter, Eva Skrabl
and her husband, Joseph, of Ansonia; two granddaughters, Sara and Elizabeth
Skrabl; three nephews; and one niece. Friends are invited to attend the funeral

of the late Nicholas and Giovanna Camerota Puglise. Survivors include her

grandnephews, Johnpaul Christopher Signore and Victor Ray Signore; two

Health Care Center, Ansonia. Mrs. Pavelko was born in Bridgeport and was
the daughter of the late Samuel and Matilda Bailardo. She was employed with
T.M. Systems of Bridgeport for 10 years. She is survived by her two devoted
daughters, Carolyn Nemeth and her husband, Joseph, of Oxford, Barbara Shook
and her husband, Alexander, of Stevenson; one brother, Matthew Bailardo of
Daytona Beach, Fla.; one sister Bernice Rizzi of Fla.; two granddaughters,
Nicole and Danielle Nemeth; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will
