John Gracy Rawls
John Gracy Rawls (1887 - 1974), son of John Green and Janie Burnett Rawls, was a telegrapher and station master with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. The picture is a postcard with "Sears & Rawls oprs" at top and "20 words a min 3-29-09" at bottom. The penny postcard to RFD #3 in Alachua was written to his eldest sister Alice Jane Rawls (1883 - 1953), wife of George Washington Wilson (1879 - 1947). The card, postmarked Newnan, Georgia, identifies the other operator as C. W. Sears. John's brother, Francis Olmsted Rawls (1896 - 1975), was also a telegrapher and station master, serving in High Springs for over 20 years.
