Petition to the President by Inhabitants of Alachua County to retain Governor Duval.
We whose names are hereto subscribed, having heard that representations have been
attempted to be got up injurious to the character, and respectability of His Excellency the
Governor of this Territory do hereby testify our unfeigned respect for him, and the high
sense we entertain of the arduous and important services he has rendered to the people of
this territory and we wish these our sentiments may be made known to the president of
the United States that no improper impressions may exist in his mind on the matter.
We the people of Alachua, have no wish for the removal of his Excellency the
Governor.
