during March to the Sea. Enlisted as Private May 10, 1862. Enlisted
Co. H, 57th Inf. Reg. May 24, 1862, deserted in Bridgeport, Tn August
15 1862. Enlisted as a 1st Lieutenant in Union Army. On 11/7/1862 he was
commissioned into "D" Co. TN 5th Cavalry. He was transferred out on 7/15/1863
and On 7/15/1863 he transferred into "I" Co. AL 1st Cavalry. He was Mustered
