Banks County was formed in 1858
from parts of Habersham and Franklin
Counties. It was named after Dr. Richard Banks a noted surgeon and physician
from that area. Banks County is bordered by Stephens, Madison, Jackson, Habersham,
Hall and Franklin Counties.
