9-5-1801- Twenty Dollars Reward - Runaway some time in June last a negro man named Peter, stout, well made, about six feet high and marked with a small box. Any person delivering to Mrs. Jacob Danforth of Augusta, Ga or secure him in any jail in the state of Ga., shall receive the above reward. Andrew Glover, South Carolina, Edgefield District. 4-11-1807- Letters remaining in the Augusta, Ga Post Office, 4-1-1807. John and Andrew Glover 10-17-1818 - Letters remaining in the Augusta, Ga Post Office, 10-1-1818. Andrew Glover 12-6-1819 - Letters remaining in the Augusta, Ga Post Office, 12-1-1819. Andrew Glover 10-2-1928 - Three car loads of horses were shipped to Aiken, SC by Thomas Glover and the Chipchase Riding School were unloaded this morning. 30 horses were for Glover livery stables here and 50 saddlers for the chipchase school. This is the first shipment of horses to Aiken and marks the early approach of the winter season. Some of the latter animals were sent here for the Boy's Preparatory school which opens here on the 15th. Sarah Glover Smith, 2054 Central Ave., died 1-20-1963, in a local hospital after an extended illness. Interment in Westover Memorial Park. Born in Jefferson County, Ga., a daughter of the late James T. Glover and Mary Peebles Glover, she had lived in Augusta, Ga., most of her life. She was the widow of Mahon T. Smith and member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Dorothy Smith, Augusta; son, M. T. Smith, Jr., Green, S.C.; sister, Mrs. Alma G. Wren, Augusta. February 22, at Meadow Garden, given by Augusta Chapter D.A.R. in honor of George Washington. This Chapter never fails to honor the birthday of the Father of his country, with a program at Meadow Garden and the public is invited to come out and enjoy the musical event. Among the countless interesting historical objects that fill the rooms of Meadow Garden, one object of special interest will be a Stradivarius violin loaned for the occasion by M. O. Glover. The violin belonged to his great-great-grandfather, Robert Wiley Glover, of Alexander, Va., who was on Washington's staff and who purchased the violin in 1775 in Charleston. On Washington's birthday each February so the tradition of the family says, Robert Glover would play the violin in honor of Washington's birthday. (TAC -2-21-1933) Harry Boone, age 77, died 2-15-1971. Interment at Stapleton Baptist Church. S. A. Blanchard Funeral Home in charge, Gibson, Ga. Son of John F. and Mae Glover Boone. Retired farmer. Native of Jefferson County. A veteran of WWI. Survivors: a sister, Mrs. Mae Boone Underwood of Atlanta, Ga., two brothers, Ralph E. Boone of Atlanta, Ga., and John Boone of Arlington, Virginia. John H. Boone, age 75, h/o Mrs. Mae Glover Boone, died at his residence June 8, 1942. Interment at Stapleton Baptist Church. He died after a long period of declining heath. A prominent farmer and civic worker. A native of Washington County and had lived in the same house for 43 years. Served as a Justice of the Peace and a notary public and was a member of the Stapleton Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mae Glover Boone; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Martin of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Mrs. (Mae Boone) J. T. Underwood, of Atlanta; four sons, Harry Boone, of Stapleton, A. S. Boone, of Charlotte, N. C., R. E. Boone of Atlanta, and John Boone, Jr., of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, C.A. Boone of Deep Step, Ga., and Robert Boone of Sandersville, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. J. R. Mills of Adrian, Ga. (TAC) Glover, Walter, age 64 died 1-30-1922 at University Hospital after an illness of six months. Funeral services at R. E. Elliott and Sons funeral chapel. Interment in the West View Cemetery. Survivors: one brother, Samuel Glover; one uncle, Joseph Glover; and two aunts, Mrs. Mary Glover, Augusta and Mrs. Eliza Cameron, Atlanta. Obituary of Carrie C. Glover - Louisville, Ga, Native of Jefferson County. Durisoe, Lucy Glover - Edgefield, SC, died suddenly last night (12-10-1905)at her home on Maint. St. from second stroke of paralysis. She was over 60 years old and had been ill in health for some months. Daughter of Wiley Glover, deceased and was twice married, first husband, Gus Tompkins and the second husband, D. R. Durisoe who at one time owned the Edgefield Advertiser. She left no children but several relatives. The
