Sheriff Auction Sales

December 12, 1819 - Notice - Will be sold at the Market house in the City of Augusta, on the first Tuesday, in January 1819, between the hours of 10 and 3 o'clock.  Three Grown Negroes, To wit. Dick, Lucy and Hannah, it being the negroes belonging to the estate of Zachariah Bell deceased and sold for the purpose of discharging the debts of said Bell.  We do also notify all persons having any demands against the said estate, to render them in previous to that day, as after that period we shall not settle them.  James Bell; Jessey J. Barham; William A. Bell - Legatees.

Crime

5/12/1831 - Proclamation by Gov. George R. Gilmer offering $200 reward for the apprehension of persons guilty of forcibly entering and releasing from the jail of McIntosh County on the night of the 6th and 7th ultimo, Joseph  Bell of Montgomery County who was charged with the murder of Matthew Sapp. Ref: Governor's Proclamations for the Apprehension of Fugitives 1831-1839 from the Milledgeville Federal.

Bell, Admnr. on the estate of Margaret Bell, deceased who duly sworn says deceased was the proper owner of Lot No. 333 in 16th District 4th Section the grant for which is applied for by him.  Dated June 23, 1843.  Signed: Augustus J.
