1-4-1872 - Maj. H. Brookins of Sandersville, Ga was presented with a can by the citizens.

12-24-1875 - Mr. C. C. Brown has elected ordinary of Washington county to fill vacancy occasioned by the death of Judge Brookins.

10-4-1876 - Savannah News- Laurel Grove Cemetery, Clairborn Brookins (Colored), age 10 days died with yellow fever.

April 1936 - Parker Brookins, found not guilty - violation of the prohibition law.

July 5, 1937 - Cairo, Ga., Three persons were drowned today in the Ochlocknee River, two of them while attempting rescues:  J. B. Murphy, about 55, salesman formerly of Ormond, Florida; Fay Edward Brookins, age 8, his grandson and Edward Collins age 23, Hardware salesman.  The Brookins child was the first to drown.  He drifted into deep water while swimming in the river.  The grandfather went after him and drowned in the deep channel.  The child was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Doss C. Brookins.  Murphy is survived by his widow and several children.  Collins left a widow and two small children.  All three bodies were recovered.

Daley C. Sapp - died 8-18-1945, age 47, near Sardis, Georgia, husband of Mrs. Phronie Shivers Sapp. Funeral services at Alexander Baptist Church. Interment in Bethel Cemetery. Besides his wife he is survived by one sister, Mrs. W. M. Brookins (Nellie Mae Sapp) of Burke County, Georgia.

Per Death Certificate - The W. M. Brookins is for William Dwellie (Judge) Brookins. There was never a M in his name however I do see it come up from time to time.

6-1-1969 - Mrs. Eugenia I. Chalker of Augusta and Carl E. Chalker of Waynesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Carlene Ruth, to William Dwellie Flakes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Flakes of Alexander, Ga.  Miss Chalker is the granddaughter of Mrs. Myrtle Ivey of Augusta and Will Ivey of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Iler Chalker of Waynesboro and the late G. F. Chalker.  Her fiance is the grandson of Mrs. Mary Flakes of Alexander, Ga., and the late Lester Flakes and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Judge Brookins.  The wedding will be June 29 at Woodlawn Methodist Church.

Land For Sale The subscriber is desirous of selling a Plantation lying in Burke County, Ga., containing 480 acres, more or less, of Oak and Hickory Land, being well adapted to the growth of Corn and Cotton, having on it the usual improvement; adjoining land of William Brookins, Samuel Baron and and William Gilstrap's estates, with 175 acres cleared land.  Any person desirous of purchasing such a place, would do well to call and examine, as a bargain may be had by an early application.  John W.
