Miss Jessie Cook Courtney, age 17, died in Aiken, South Carolina on 10/8/1930 from injuries received from an automobile accident. The accident occurred on lower Park Avenue in front of the residence of Col. D. W. Gaston when the Chrysler Sedan in which she was riding with three other companions: Coleman (Shorty) Williams, Edmund Cortez, Jr. and Miss Myrtle Grubbs. The car skidded on wet payment causing the car to overturn completely. Miss Courtney suffered severe gash in her side. She was the only one that received injuries. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. J. C. Cook of Augusta, Georgia; sister, Veona Cook and brother, J. C. Cook, Jr.; grandparents: Mrs. W. P. Courtney, Aiken Couth Carolina with whom she lived with. Interment in Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, South Carolina. |
