Senate Resolution 883 - By: Senator Cheeks of the 23rd
ADOPTED SENATE - A RESOLUTIONRequesting the Georgia Department of
Transportation to reinstate the name of the "T. Watson Mobley Bridge" in Burke
County; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Thomas Watson Mobley was born in Burke County at Girard on October
22, 1895; and
WHEREAS, T. Watson Mobley served Burke County on the Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, T. Watson Mobley served the people of Georgia as a member of the
Georgia House of Representatives from 1953 to 1960; and
WHEREAS, T. Watson Mobley further served the people of Georgia by representing
Burke County in the Georgia Senate; and
WHEREAS, the bridge over Brier Creek on Georgia Highway 23 was named in honor
of Mr. T. Watson Mobley by the Georgia General Assembly and the Georgia
Department of Transportation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that this
body requests that the Georgia Department of Transportation reinstate the name
"T. Watson Mobley Bridge" on the Georgia Highway 23 bridge over Brier Creek
and that appropriate signage again be placed at the bridge.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and
directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the State
Transportation Board.
